Things just begin to heat up at Mullett Lake (includes video)
but it’s time to go home (and back to work…)! Isn’t that how it always? I never finished my story about the 2008 fall big bass hunt – shorter in duration this year

Well, it’s been my most significant effort in time and cost to date, but the GreatLakesBass.com Fishing Video Service is finally up and running!!
My 3rd day up north on my annual fall big bass hunt did not go quite as planned… After the very slow start on Mullett with no definite move to the shallows despite warm sun
Well… I said the bass were biting, but unfortunately for many anglers up here right now, not many of them! After a slow start in our short evening Thursday albeit somewhat successful with cameraguy’s biggest smallie ever at 6.5 pounds
Back up north for my annual fall big northern smallmouth lake trip to possibly my favorite lake in the world (at least north of Gaylord and south of St. Ignace) Mullett Lake.
Usually, scandal and intrigue are not part of the DK Open, but this year’s fall event was the exception with several ‘incidents’ occurring.
Looks like nice guy and great angler (and GLBass member) Mike Trombly is leading the boater side after day one in the Michigan BFL on the Detroit River.
I’m finishing up buying a new Pontiac Vibe from our own sponsor Benchley Buick Pontiac GMC with the help of member spinninbug (Wendy Johnson) and it couldn’t have been easier.
I LOVE fishing. I love fishing tournaments. I remember a while back when I thought I wanted to be a full-time touring bass pro. I wanted it very bad. Bad enough to put almost everything else on the backburner.
A very eventful week is coming to an end. Team Michigan does their job at the TBF Northern Divisional Championship putting almost 500 pounds on the board for an 86 pound win over 2nd place Indiana.
I had intended to provide some details today about the wrap up of the 08 TBF N Divisional, but we had a somewhat unexpected death in the family early this morning so I’ll have to report things tomorrow sometime instead.
Well… I probably won’t be able to forget today… ever. One part of the ‘fond’ memories of my massive 6 pound catch of 3 measly little squeaker keepers is hauling my nonboater partner back out of the St. Clair River (69 F water) after he took a header off the bow.
Well, this didn’t go quite the way I personally hoped, but the team did pretty well. Modrak is leading and several other members – Cummings, Peck, Reiter off the top of my head (tired head) had real good weights.
Well, tomorrow it counts. Tomorrow the hooks will be set with full and unforgiving force because we all need to bring in the bags. We can’t let Michigan down and lose on our home turf!!! No way. We would never live it down.
What a day…? Not sure it taught me a lot, but… I think… once I dry out I will have a better idea. I ran into TBF of Michigan Pres Dennis Beltz on the way out this morning and spent some time going over plans
Well, had to work late every night this week at the ‘day’ job so nothing much prepared. Now comes Saturday and I have a zillion things to do to get on the road for the 2008 TBF Northern Divisional Championship.
