Title: Rabbit hunting
Post by: Jmcfarland on December 29, 2006, 11:59:18 AM
My father in law, a friend of his and I all went out with the beagles yesterday. Had about 5 good runs and ended up with 3 snowshoes. 2 were shot on the jump and I got the only 1 in front of the dogs. Spent about 5 hours hunting. If you've never done this before I would recommend trying it once. It is definately a good way to pass the winters and right now the bunnies are white making for easy hunting against the brown background. It was one of my first times hunting with dogs and I am definately going to do more of it in the winter.

Well usually we have snow by now and that makes for good rabbit huntin. Snow is better because they take cover in the thick stuff. Makes it easy to find them. Snow or no snow i'll be going out to find them saturday. Hopefully I'll bring a few home for dinner   ;D

I used to raise Beagles.
I loved it.
When my last one died I just couldn't bring myself to get another one.
She was the best.
There's no better way to spend a winter's day than listening to the bay of the hounds when they are hot on the trail.
