Title: Gun Lake Launch?
Post by: 32eml24 on July 18, 2014, 11:48:11 AM
Looking to fish gun for the first time tomorrow.  Is there a ramp that I don't need to wait for it to open?  I'd like to start at 6.  Thanks!

You can use the county park ramp on the south west corner.  It's got a machine you pay, then the gate goes up.  Decent ramp but the water is pretty shallow all around it.

That would be a good local project for someone to work on getting 'night' access or at least an earlier opener at the park ramp. They did a great job at Lake Ovid on the new boat ramp so you can get into that part of the park to go fishing 24 hours a day.

If you want to put a tournament on at Gun Lake and use the State Park ramp, they will open it earlier if you arrange it.  But the fact that the ramp is so far into the park, they would have to open the entire park early just to use the boat ramp any other time.

When my club shows up for a tournament they let us in at 7 most of the time as long as we are there waiting. I have heard they open it when they see them there any time the get in to work which is 7.
