:( I got up bright and early this morning to go fishing at Ponemah, it looked beautiful. When I got there the wind picked up and it got cold, since I was already wet from slipping when I was launching I was freezing. I was on the trolling motor the whole time trying to keep the boat straight in the wind, thus killing my battery. I figured I would just move to a break from the wind, but when I fired up the outboard it was sputtering and stalling out. So I limped back to the ramp before the boat decided to sink too. Oh, and no fish either! Hope, you guys have a better day. :(
I went to Lake Ovid today and it was really windy. I started wearing shorts when I left Brighton and when I got to the launch I changed into the jeans I luckily brought. Other than the wind being pretty strong and me not having an anchor it was a pretty good day. My fishing partners for the day had a great time in the coves bringing in 37 pan fish. I had one really nice LM and some short ones too. The bass bite was pretty slow anyway so you didn't miss much. Hopefully tomorrow is better.
Could have been worse. Saw a couple real winners today trying to launch a canoe. They turned the thing over not once, but THREE times just tring to get in it. They were both soaked but on their FOURTH atempt, managed to finally get away from the launch area only to turn it over while trying to trade seats. I laughed till I cried! Luckily they were still in about 3 1/2 foot of water but as cold as I was in that wind I could only imagine. ( and yes, they finally left)
Sounds like a typical day. If stuff like that happens consistently enough for long enough (with many much worse events thrown in) you can name your property. Mine is called Tragedy Acres (and McCarter's never even been here).
