Planning a trip up in a week or 2. Which one of these lakes is gonna be best for fall bass fishing? Any horsepower or speed limits on these lakes?
No Horsepower limit on Cadillac or Mitchell....There was what looked like a pretty big bass tournament up there this past weekend...Not sure what circuit, maybe Top Bass.....If you can find out you may be able to check the results out and see how they did....The lake was loaded with Tournament rigs...I wasn't fishing, so I am not much help..
D&R classic was there. I would try mitchell - it is shallow and weedy. Cadillac may be on for smallies however.
I think the top 3 finishers at D&R were smallies from Cadillac.
The lakes support several large tournaments all season long and there are always good bags weighed in. I'd start on the north and north east sides of Cadilac for the smallies. If you see the boat ramp in the north east corner (by downtown sort of) you'll know you are in the right area to start. If you have graphs with navigation chips in them it will help.
As with many inland lakes in Michigan the speed limit on both lakes is 55 mph.
Have fun!
Thanks for the info.
I have caught mostly walleye on TippyDam. It is a clear deep backwater lake. Probably some smallies in it. I would go to Cadillac/Mitchel.
