This deserves its own topic - back by popular demand - thanks to NBAA and Showspan, Wayne and I will be doing the "Are You a Bass Angler" game again this year on the hawg tank at 3:30 PM Saturday at the Lansing fishing show in the Lansing Center.
Bring the kiddies on down. We pick kids at random from the audience and they get to decide what we throw and how we throw it in the fish tank. We had a lot of fun with this last year and we may even have some fabulous prizes for the participants.
See you there.
??? ??? Where is the Lansing center?? I am in howell.
I have free tickets to the show. If anyone is interested, stop by the store, or give me a call. We will have several Stratos, Ranger, and Lowe boats on display. It alsosounds like Powell rods will be in our booth. Give me a call if you have any questions.

The Lansing Center is specifically on the NW corner of Cedar St and Michigan Ave in downtown Lansing. You can park behind the Lansing Center by entering off of Cedar St. (one way only going south on that stretch).
A little more details on the driving - take I-96 towards Lansing
Take US-127 North to downtown W I-496
Take the Pennsylvania / Cedar St / Larch St Exit - go across Pennsylvania staying to the far right to Cedar St
Take a right onto Cedar St - it turns into one way at that point only going North and becomes Larch St
Go North crossing Michigan Ave to the first light past Oldsmobile Park and turn left onto Shiawassee St
Hang a Louie at the next light onto Cedar St (one way only again) and quickly move to the far right - watch for the entry to the Lansing Center parking lot just past the Farmers Market
You enter the Lansing Center from underneath and go up the stairs to the main floor to get into the show
So, just how young does one have to be to play this little game of yours?? :D :D :D
yeah, mike's almost as tall as a 12 year old.. thats gotta count for something. ;D
My boy might be there....
DEAD STICK!!!... sloooowwww... DEAD STICK!!!.... sloooowww... DEAD STICK!!

I guess someone has to look young and like they might not know much about bass fishing. If you didn't catch this last year, this would be a great chance to see the updated version. Last year, this was a last minute brainstorm but this year even features a live "theme song."
Dan will be up on the tank and I'll Emcee. It's a great teaching tool for kids to walk through the steps of what it takes to look into to tackle box and select a presentation, then see how the decision plays out in the hawg tank. Last year I don't think they even had bass, but we credited every participant with having what it took to be a bass angler and a free gift.
Who's singing the theme song Wayne , you or Dan?
We have our own singers now - the Bassettes... or is it the Bassets... or Bassnets... I forget.
We're taking applications for the backup singers...the Basinets or perhaps the Micropterus dolomieu Choir or something like that. Yup, I'll be leading the group in the second installment of: "Are You A Bass Angler?"
How's the new game show hair look, Wayne?!?
And Friday, all day, while that's going on I'll be working in the Xtreme booth. Stop by if you're at the show and say high.
I've been putting off picking up my tube bait supplies until this show.
I've heard through the grape vine that there's this new color, that nobody knows about yet. Supposed to be a secret weapon.
Gotta get me some.
On Saturday while Wayne and Dan are pretending to be Pat and Vanna I will be working the Xtreme Bass Tackle both. If you are at the show please stop and introduce yourself. I should be there most of the day on Saturday.
Cy
That would be Vanna Carpenter... ;D
Well - Wayne played the geetar and sang our new theme song. If I'm being honest... I wasn't totally feeling it dawg... ;D Good thing he chose the tackle business as his main line of work... :o Sorry Wayne - just kidding because Brian said to.
We had a very fun time getting 10 young boys and girls to play 'Are You a Bass Angler' giving out prizes to all of them including Xtreme Bass Tackle custom lures.
One lucky, tiny angler won a t-shirt he can use for pajamas because he chose the secret technique. The young anglers who chose tube jigs as the presentation had an additional challenging choice to make - tube trailer... or no tube trailer.
I was fortunate enough to have several bass on (but no hooks allowed on the catch and release only hawg tank) and despite my having over 5 fish on, one young angler (who I will remember... he better count on it...) when Wayne asked him, "what have we learned so far?" He answered, "that Dan can't catch fish!" Oh yeah... some day, he'll be in my boat. Some day... and anglers NEVER forget... now what was his name again...?
That kid sounds pretty sharp to me! ;)
Thanks again Dan, for working the TBF booth at Lansing. I hope we can get more volunteers next year at the shows. Keep up the good work see you at the bay.
