Title: A Quaint Little Write-Up
Post by: Northern Bass Bum on September 28, 2008, 09:47:41 PM
As we backed the boat into Round Lake, I pictured yet another day filled with pike, and a few bass thorown in here-and-there. But today, today my friends, would be different.

Idling into a nice drop from 5' to 18', I picked up my drop-shot rod and rigged up a 3" Nemesis Goby in KLK. Fishin' the weed edge around 16', we fish long and hard to no avail. After a half-hour with no bites, it's time to move.

Moving down the bank, we pull into a large weed flat filled with milfoil and intermingled cabbage. Out comes the Senko rod, rigged with the new Strike King "ZERO" (a bait I would not choose over others of the same family), which, again, produces a big "ZERO".

A short spell later we pull into a new spot, a nice rise in the bottom from 25' to 11' - sandy. I pull out the jig rod and rig up a Picasso "Fantasty Football - Ken Cook", 1/2 oz. jig, and let fly. A few casts later my efforts produce! Nothin' like a big fattie to get you fired up, eh?

Right on 20" and four pounds even, she really got the heart racing. Great fish for the day...

(To be continued. I'm tired, darnit!)

Humbly,

-NBB  ;) :D

Is that the Round lake by Wamplers or Devils Lake?

Round by Devil's Lake. Both great lakes, although my father and I prefer Round over Devils. If anybody would like to bring a boat or join me in mine, I'd be willing to show them around.

I got skunked on both Wamplers and Round this summer. In my defense I only got to fish Round for less than thirty minutes and almost had a smallie.
