Title: Spring Turkey Season
Post by: fasttrack on April 23, 2009, 02:04:27 PM
I was able to fill my turkey tag on opening day. After a soggy morning of several close encounters but no good, safe shot opportunities I went to work to dry out and warm up. When the rain stopped about 5pm my wife told me to go try again. Who am I to argue?

Went out back and found a nice place to sit. Within one-half hour I heard gobbling. I used my slate call a few times and they responded with more gobbling. It didn't take long and two nice longbeards came around the corner strutin' their stuff. I chose the nicest loking one and dropped him. That's five years in a row now with a gobbler.

Any pictures? (You usually have them.)

On the way to work the other day, I saw a flock of turkeys out in a field off the highway. At each end of the flock was a big tom in full display facing off! Pretty cool! Makes the drive to work a little more interesting.
