I'll stop by the Grandt booth on Saturday and we can talk. If you have a bait you can show me, bring it along. Thanks Dave.
Those pumkinseeds are sweet! Thanks for showing us something to aim for....later
Those Pumpkinseeds are insane! I'm gonna try a Gobie pattern soon. Those look sweet too. We need to get together sometime and brainstorm.

Thanks. I was really happy with how the pumpkinseeds turned out. Usually it takes me two or three (or more) tries before I get a pattern to the point where I am happy with it, but the planets aligned that day and they turned out pretty good on my first try. I'll probably tweek them here and there, but overall I like them. If you want to meet up some time, that's cool. Send me a PM.
Hey I am still waiting on a couple of baits??? Those pumpkinseeds are bad to the bone!!! I have some FAT FREES, that I would like painted. Are you going to be at GR show???

Hey John. Long time no see. I don't think I'll be at GR. Did you go to the UFS? I was there Friday night thru Sunday. I could have given you a bait or two there. Shoot me a PM when you get a minute.
Jeff,
I was there most of the day Sat. but obviously I didn't see ya, or I would have said hello. I will PM ya.

Goby (3 DT 16s and 2 DD22s):
Judging by the success I had today with the Goby pattern today, this bait is going to be a
HUGE success! Good job Jeff. I mean that.

How's bout some details Dave...
Soon my friend. Maybe after the weekend
Ok this bait is a freak! I caught a 50" Muskie on it today. I said Jeff won't believe this. I was getting my phone out to take a picture as the fish was right next to the boat with the Goby crank hanging out of its mouth. As I was fumbling with the phone to get it ready to take the picture the fish lit up and exploded into the air. The crank came back and smacked me in my forehead.
LOL, OMG, to have that on video. Priceless.

Priceless...and all I caught on it was a 5.4.

It was just Mr. Muskies way of giving you your bait back. At least he didn't swim off with it and you still have it to play with another day. Great looking baits Jeff, you have a real talent!

Would love to get some details... :D
Come on! Spit it out!
I'm so sorry Jeff, I totally forgot about this thread. All the sun waves and wind took a toll on me.
The Goby colored DD22 is a big fish magnet. I was fishing it in 14ft of water with 10lb test florocarbon on a Grandt 7' EGlass Crank stick. Get it down quick and dig in the weeds. Stop the bait and let it back out. Work it back into the weeds. Repeat.
The fish would slam down on it from the top. Slow was the key. Super slow for a crank.
Dude you should see how tore up this bait is from all the fish. The Muskie tore it up too.
It is almost time to start throwing the custom C Flash you made for me.
Nothing like those deep crank bites on St. Clair. Practically rip the rod from your hands! I'm hooked on throwing cranks out there. The Strike King series 5, 6, and 6xd also work great out there. I ordered a Spro little John DD, that claims it can hit 20 feet. I'll be shocked if it hits 16 with 10# flouro. Of course its on backorder along with my KVD elite trebles!

I'm glad to hear you've been catching them on that bait. The Goby pattern has caught a lot of really nice fish for me and others the past couple of years. Jason is right, there's nothing like deep cranking on St. Clair. Or, throwing deep cranks in shallow water (what?! you actually throw a DT 16 in 8 ft of water Jeff?!...Yup, but it doesn't work....shhhhhhh).

I have to agree throwing deep cranks on LSC is very addicting, once you pick up the crankbait rod it's hard for me to put it down. I had a great year last year with deep cranks and I totally agree with Mags on how he uses the cranks in the weeds. I watched KVD on Pro Team Journal throwing cranks on LSC in 15-16 fow and he wasn't fishing the cranks like that. That show really opened my eyes to crank bait fishing and makes me wonder how many more fish I could have caught if I would of fished that way also. That was a very informative show if you have a chance to watch it.
Last June KVD and a Bass Pro Shop videographer came to my buddies private lake and they filmed for 11 hours. It was very cool. We got to spend quite a bit of time with him that day. My buddy met him when we Marshalled the Lake Wheeler event a year ago April. They were going to film the next day up on the Bay. I've seen at least 4 different segments from my buddies lake on BASS Pros. One was on yesterday on swimbaits.
Very nice looking baits.
