Title: Lake Cumberland April 2010
Post by: EKennedy on April 10, 2010, 08:47:58 AM
Stripers are just coming into the main lake.  These 4 are just under ten pounds each.  MANY early strikes...but tough keeping hooked up.  Main lake temp  - mid 50's.  60 in the creeks and headwaters.  Slow trolled gizzard shads...shallow.  Thanks Capt. Dan from DC Guides!

Outstanding! I understand there are some real monsters in Cumberland. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to make it down there to fish for those beasts.

Glad to see someone had fun there! We were supposed to stay there last wknd but with the storms on Saturday we decided to ditch that plan and head for Charleston.  Nice fish, sir!

Thanks...stipers fight hard...but tend to tire easily.  These are actually a bit on the small side.  15-17 lbs seems average...but they can go over 30lbs.  Biggest Capt Dan boated this season so far was 23 lbs.
Now THAT's a nice fish, Sir!

Nice Stripers. I would run into them from time to time on the St. Johns River when I lived in Florida.

Seth and I got into them bigtime on Cherokee last year practicing for the regional. It was like we were in the middle of a pot of boiling water.

They don't seem to tire very fast when you hook one on your St. Clair smallie tube rod though!!
