This question is for just this year.  What is the oddest or craziest thing you witnessed while fishing this year?  Mine was late summer while fishing with my channel partner Jim.  We went out of Port Clinton Ohio on Lake Erie.  The first one that caught us by surprise was a lady coming out of her home as we were fishing the bank.  She had a well fitted bikini on and we tried not to make it obvious  as we took a look her way.  The next thing you know she walks down to the beach and out in the water coming towards us.  We were only in about 3 foot of water so first thought was is she going to walk all the way to our boat?  Was she made because we were fishing in front of her beach front home?  Nope!  Instead she gives us big smile and drags some kind of core digger for taking samples.  She walks about 15 feet from our boat and bends over giving a full shot of the cleavage as she turned the core around and around.  I know I should have just turned the GoPro right in her direction, but I didn't .  Lol. It was pretty apparent she did it on purpose.  You can see her in the intro part of the video in the link below.  It was a distant shot as we were moving away.
The next thing that happened was just a couple hours later.  We were fishing the Portage River mouth where it enters Lake Erie.  There is heavy boat traffic that is constantly going in and out of the river.  Including the giant ferry boats that go to the islands.  People line the rock pier and fish all the way up and down for catfish.  This young man was fishing when a yacht got a little too close to his catfish line.  The next thing you know the boat's intake sucked his line up ,and his rod took off from shore as it was sucked in the intake.  He was furious he lost his fishing pole.  That is around the 3:55 minute mark I think in this video.  What was your craziest thing you seen in 2024?  Sorry Dan,  The embed links just don't work in this forum for some reason.

Quote from: djkimmel on July 11, 2024, 06:52:56 AMThat sounds exciting for you! I know there are a few books out there by divers about Great Lakes, and even Lake Erie, shipwrecks that can be interesting and valuable resources. I've fished a few and dropped video on them though more in St. Clair and other places than Erie.

Question: My automatic video embedder does not have code for Rumble. Do they by any chance have embed code where you could show the video right here? Or maybe you're prefer not to do that? Not a big deal. Just wondering. Thanks!

Dan,  I'm not sure why I don't get email notifications on replies.  I just now seen the alerts at the top of this page.  I've tried a few of the embed codes and they haven't worked.  Let me post them in here and maybe you can figure out something.  They show up on other forums.  See if any of these work.

Ultimate Fishing Show Detroit 2025 / 2025 Ultimate Sport Show Tour ...
Last post by djkimmel - October 25, 2024, 01:38:59 PM
I'm not trying to rush winter, but it may come whether we rush it or not. That means we are inexorably advancing toward the 2025 Ultimate Sport Show Tour - the three biggest, highly attended fishing and outdoor sport shows in Michigan!

As usual, we kick of the 2025 fishing show season with the Ultimate Fishing Show - Detroit! January 9 to the 12th, 2025, at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi! I'll be there, so you should be there too! We might not have ice safe everywhere yet so at least you can show up and talk fishing! No excuse for those of you who don't ice fish! Better than sitting at home.

Outdoorama, the All Outdoors Show and middle sister of the three Ultimate Sport Show Tour events, runs February 20 - February 23 in Novi at the Suburban Collection Showplace again! I need more of you to make a showing at this show. Every kind of outdoors person attends, so I need more anglers to talk bass fishing to me! We can share some new secrets!

The  'grandmama' of all outdoor shows - the 80th Ultimate Sport Show - Grand Rapids comes March 13 - 16, 2025 at DeVos Place. Always tons of fishing stuff at this big, big show. You can see multiple Dans! Dan at 2K Jigs, and me! Plus, you can bring me a birthday present!

More information is forthcoming as it becomes available from Showspan. Keep up with the latest news, announcements, contests and promotions here, and on Facebook at Ultimate Sport Show Tour.

Another Shipwreck loaded with fish!  You ever come across a massive school of fish that just didn't want to bite?  Come along for an underwater look at a popular shipwreck on Lake Erie.  It's quite humbling when you fish an area first, and then go back and see what was actually there.

Ohio Bass Fishing Reports / Inner City Bass Fishing

My channel partner Jim and I decided to do something a little different and went deep into the city of Toledo in search of bass.  It was quite the adventure and we went as far as we could up this creek.  There are some nice bass hidden deep in the city.

I went looking for the Success Shipwreck due to the fascinating history of the ship. In this video, you will find out the facts of it being used as a floating prison. The Great Houdini did an escape trick from one of its cells. The water was murky this day, but there are quite a few fish swimming around the wreck.

I've been contacted by a Deborah Butler who works with CIEE foreign exchange students. She's looking for placement of a 16-year-old student in the Traverse City or Lansing area in Michigan.

Ben is a fishing enthusiast from Germany who enjoys the outdoors. I'm getting the work out thinking someone might know a family willing to host Ben for the 2024-25 school year and help him pursue his interest in fishing after school hours.

A Little More About Ben
Ben loves riding his motorcycle back home in Germany to meet up with friends. He has a great sense of humor, so I'm sure he'll be meeting up with American friends quickly after arriving here. He enjoys family activities and would love to be part of an American family for the school year.

In Germany, Ben lives with his father, Andreas, his mother, Leni, and his 11-year-old sister, Silke. The family fishes, wakeboards, swims, do chores together and spends quality time with each other. Ben says: "I hope that my host family is kind and that I will settle in there quickly. That we would     experience many great things together and that my host family would introduce me to their culture and everyday American life."

More Information About Hosting an Exchange Student
Besides opening their hearts and homes to exchange students, host families provide three meals a day, provide a bedroom and bathroom (which can be shared), and make lifelong connections with the student. Exchange students come with their own health insurance and spending money. They speak strong English and are interviewed and vetted for success in the program.

Pass the work around if you think you know someone who might be interested in helping Ben. I remember being friends with several exchange students back in the day, including Dieter from Germany. It was always a great learning experience. Contact me if you are interested or know someone else who might be.
