hey andy / brian? did they give details for the new format yet.? tried to find it on the web site but could not.

I really liked the idea behind the changes.........until i heard about the observer thingy.  Like Skip, i dont know anyone who is going to take a week off work, pay expenses, and lose time with their families just to ride around on a boat for 3 days.  I dont think that will fly with many people.

Perhaps a homeless person would be the way to go.  I dont know any homeless people ( can i say homeless people, is that p.c.?  Incase its not, let me refer to them as living room challenged, or lrc's for short )  So, yeah, lrc's might be up for it.  its not like they have anything else going on.  Plus, they get a couple nights in a hotel room and all the continental breakfast they can fit in there pockets.  Im gonna start looking for mine today.

Doubt I'll ever fish an ABA tourney again.  And that was before this new "format".  I quit reading after the observer thing.  What were they thinking?  Correction, what do they "continue" to think?

I am all for removing the boater competing against non boater setup.  Have they decided to implement that nationwide or still only in the "favored" regions?  I havent had the ambition to subject myself to the torture of perusing the ABA site in a while.  So I'm not up to speed anymore.

ok just got the final scoop from ABA it sounds almost perfect to me ;D

the top 50 boaters from regionals and 50 from 2006 nationals qualify for 2007 nationals for a total of 250 boats.

the top 51 through 100 from each regional qualify for non boaters at nationals!( or down the list if any of 51 through 100 decline)

tournament is a 4 day event for boaters with top 25 advancing to day 4 with a spectater supplied by ABA for day 4.

non boaters fish 3 days.

both boaters and co anglers do not pay any entry fee to fish nationals!

boaters awards, top 15% divide $30.000/ winner awarded triton tr 21 X2 with mercury 225.

non boaters awards, top 15% divide $15.000.
non boaters can weigh up to 3 fish per day.

I dont know where the extra 50 non boaters will come from to cover the 50 invites from 2006 nationals but Im sure thats been figured out by ABA.

Looks like I will be staying with ABA this year and see how it all works out, it sounds good to me, it seems to me that its just about the same odds to go to nationals as before it will just eliminate boaters being paired with boaters at nationals.

Well, that is a lot more appealing than the version AA told us.  It seems there is still some confusion, which is understood with the many changes they are making.

thanks i found it and read it.  be interesting to see where the regional ends us.? probably a 500 mile drive.?

Skip Johnson

I think it would be a safe bet it will be far from here, heres my guesses.
none of these will offer any better fishing than we had at kentucky!

If I had my choice it would be cumberland with 1200 miles of shoreline to hide 250 boats in and some of the hardest fishing in the country.

1. patomic river

2.cumberland

3.ohio river (god forbid)

4.erie (out of ohio or pennsylvania)

5. kerr resevoir (virginia or north carolina)
Go Big or Go Home!

jcox7

my guess is kerr because that si the furthest our district can go south and god knows they do not want to come north.

so now there is no BASS series for Mich any idea when the Mich ABA schedules will be out and where a regoinal will be.??   only 6 months till the season starts.    :'( :'( :-[

djkimmel

There was a BASS schedule for Michigan. I'd wait a few more days and see what Anthony can work out (or find out from whomever is working it out higher up). See what happens.

Last I heard - he was about finished with his ABA schedule along with the Fish-n-Friends date for 2007.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

just read this on the LSCN site.

The ABA in the last week has had contracts to sign, directors to interview and schedules to get out. They have relied heavily on thier local directors and area managers to get this done.....

We had a Major set back here in Michigan - My Nephew was killed in Iraq over the weekend and this forced me to step back and I could not give the ABA the insight they needed to get our schedule on the books.

There are a few roadblocks here in Michigan that need to be resolved before the ABA can commit to a 2007 schedule here.

I am working on it.... Please bare with me.

sorry to hear of the loss.  everyone should add a thought to Anthony and family on this day of thanks.
