2 Day Championship - you must have paid for 3 of the 1 day tournaments to be able to fish this tournament.

Top Bass Tournament Trail, is a SINGLES tournament format (one person per boat only), and we have a $60 entry fee, and NO membership fee.  We do not take any pre-registrations, as everything is done the day of the tournament.  Example of payout - 90+% - on a field of 20 boats, first place is $500, and on 50 boats, first place is $1000.

We pay back 1 in 7 or better.  We also give away over $850 worth of merchandise donated by our sponsors at each event, to those who fished, and did not cash.  Everyone goes home with something nice.  We give a few rod/reels, lots of hat & t-shirts, lures, and boat products to those people who stay for the weigh-in.

sounds like my kind of trail, I couldnt fish the whole season but maybe a few.
is this basicaly an open and just show up at the ramp?
about how many boats did they average per tx last year?

Im liking that saginaw tx ;D and the wixoms as well.
never fished secord or sanford are they a lm or sm bass fishery or both?
Go Big or Go Home!

I like to fish one or two a year. The ones I fished at Wixom have had around 65 boats. I think the slimmest field was at Muskegeon a couple of years ago. Maybe 35 or so. It is pay at the ramp and these are about the best run tournaments you will find. Everyone goes home with something and the payouts rate with the best. As far as Sanford, I've caught Large and Smallmouth but the Smallies have run the largest, at least for me. I've heard Secord is about the same, maybe more toward the Smallmouth side.

Hooksetter

I haven't fished a Top Bass tourny in the last 2 years but when I did they were extremely well run and organized. I seem to recall that the entry fee and side pots are cash only and they pay back in cash.

I have had better luck with smallies on Sanford. I've caught  more largemouth than smallmouth on Secord.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

djkimmel

Secord used to be a PIG largemouth lake, but I haven't been there in several years and I mostly fished late September / early October.

I want to fish some Top Bass again. I fished that one on Houghton Lake in 2005. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Had 38 boats at that one. Seemed like the guys who fish it did not like Houghton or Muskegon. Otherwise they were drawing ~50 to 70 boats then.

Anyone who wants a copy of the Top Bass 2008 schedule, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it along. It seems to big to post.

Great circuit. Mostly great lakes, I have a little trouble putting Sanford Lake in that group but most guys love it. You better bring your best if you expect to cash a check with these guys.

Dan K,
The schedule isn't any different. The flyer just has a little more information. I'll send you one for the record.

djkimmel

It's okay - Elmer sent me a couple. Just thought I missed something critical.
