Went out with fire fighter jeff(french fry) after the mwm open.  I didn't have a lot of time to kill so we headed over to the canals to see if any largemouths were still bitting.  Water was mud at best and in the upper 60's.  I only fished in there once without much luck late in the season and Jeff had never.  So we both didn't really know what to expect.  I was using a 1/2 oz football head with a watermelom bed bug with casting gear and the fry was using spinning rod with a weightless senko texas rigged.  The senko looked brown but it had a chartruese tail.  Well Jeff started out putting the beat down on me from the back of the boat.  I mean at one point i said "its a long swim back to harley if you don't let me catch up!"  I don't know the number but the sizes were respectable.  We even had a double header.  All fish were caught tight to cover.  Ladders, stairs, pilings and such.  No pics because we were having to much fun.  Largest were probably near 4 lbs.  Most were in the 2-3lb range. And jeff was a good sport and let me catch up.  I even "helped" remove some underwater obstructins so he could catch another fish. ;D

Durand Dan and I also hit the canals. We wore them out on a wacky rigged senko. I used a KVD Strike King Ocho. I skipped it at ladders, posts, boats, etc. It was hard to go more than three of four casts without hooking up. We waxed them.

Thanks again Brad for taking me out.  You're an A-1 fishing guide !!  I'd love to get out fishing with you again.  You certainly caught up. I need to make sure to pack MORE sencos next time  !!!  That's what I get for packing light.  The Erie darter wasn't working quite as well at the end.  I did like the looks of that bedbug !!!
