We are getting ready to head north to lake charlevoix for a week. Anyone been up that way this year yet? Just curious as to what stage I can expect the smallies to be. I would imagine that they are post spawn in the south arm but I am hoping that we can find a dew spawners in the main lake. I will be sure to give a report when we get back next weekend. Good luck out there.

They were spawning big time early last week (Sunday before last, so almost two weeks ago) in the main lake. Big time! Never seen so many beds before on one lake.

Thanks for the update but that is not not really what I wanted to hear! Oh well, lake is full of smallies and I am sure we will be able find a few willing to cooperate.

The closer you get to Lake Michigan, the colder the water. Those bass are running about a week behind the bass farther East. I'm sure you'll catch a bunch. Could not believe how many bass I saw. Amazing!

Put almost 900 miles on the big ole truck that week. The list of lakes I didn't fish is much longer than the lakes I did fish. It was a working trip so some of the days I did not get to fish.

Luckily, the days I did fish made up for it! ;D

Fished Elk Rapids east bay area on Sat. water temp was 61`.....Lower end down by Traverse was 62` on Sat. 65`by the time I left on Sunday....caught 25 plus fish on Sunday....biggest being 4.5#...local was telling me he thought it may have peaked already cause of so many empty beds...

I fished Charlevoix two weeks ago for a tournament. We were fishing beds but there didn't seem to be anything coming up. I'm thinking it was at the tail end of the spawn at that time. 20lbs was the winning weight. I had 17.7lb for 3rd. We had two guys bring in 5lbers (1st & 2nd place).

Well, we stayed pretty much in south arm for the first day. The water temps are around 68 and a little colder toward main lake. Fish are everywhere. We have caught them from 3ft down to 18. We had around 40 for the day yesterday. Had a few close to the 4lb range and one that was 5lb 6oz 21.5". She was spawned out. Would have been pushing 6 with eggs. Fish have mainly came on drop shot and a few on tubes. Heading out to main lake to look for some beds this afternoon, at least keeping my fingers crossed.
