Here's the deal, when opening day comes around I'm like a kid in a candy store, so many great tournaments to choose from. I pick the one I like best, fish til 2 or 3, then that's it, nothing more to do.

So...
Here's what I want to do
Open tournament
maybe $50 a boat
start around 4:30pm or 5:00pm
fish til around 10pm
fish on a lake, preferably in my area
make it a lake that doesn't already have a morning tournament
make it close enough that everyone that wanted to fish a second tournament for the day could make it.  Basically somewhere between Kent lake and Lake St. Clair.

What I would like to know
Is there any interest in fishing a second tournament on opening day
Is there already one that I just don't know about
Is there anyone out there that would be willing to bring all of the scales and stuff

Opinions please

I think you may be on to something with this............Anything new and different is difficult to start-up initially but if you do it right it should catch on pretty fast.  I've always thought a Sunday Afternoon Tourney would be nice for those that attend church or spend Sunday afternoon with their families - I think you should definitely put something together for next year!

Could easily get you a scale and some bags as well as the use of a user friendly web-based software program for posting results.  Now that I think of it I may do something similiar over here on the west-side as well so let us know how the planning is coming along.

IDK what kind of turnout you would get more them likely you would prolly draw alot of guys who couldn't make it for a morning tournament due to work or family obligations. My self personally after a opening day tournament your so beat because you just fished your ass off for 8 hours been there for all of 11 hours an your ready to go home after that. If anything I would set up a 3 till 9pm tournament an start a small advertising blog an see what kind of turn out you can pull with something like that an then at the same time advertise something like what your saying an go with what the anglers want. Just make sure when you advertise this as not a schedule event yet just an IDEA, I would do that in march an April an then come May you set it up from there.
For the scales an bags you can go on eBay type in postal scales an pick up a 50lb max scale for $20 an hit up the Dollar store an get clear 50gallon bags. If your looking at a smaller crowd.
Feel free to send me a personal email an we can talk one on one I would be more then happy to give you some advise. I have been running tournaments for a few years an I have a outstanding reputation as a tournament director.

Last year I fished till 2, weighed in, was on another lake shooting carp by 4, started bass fishing again around 9, was at work by 1am to close up.  It is possible that I have a problem.

Naw... you're okay.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
