Whoops! Sorry everyone - that glbads popup was my fault!

If you were getting an annoying popup for a few minutes there asking for authentication for glbads, that was me! I made a mistake in some additional security hardening settings I'm working on that should have just been for access to protected areas but instead carried out to the public ads serving on the website.

I'll see if I can keep from pulling that one again!! Many apologies for that!

You should be able to refresh your browser and get rid of it now.

What do you know with GLB on the cell?  I cant get on the site.  It wants me to log in on an unfamiliar login area and becomes more of a virus type thing-a-ma-bob.  It would not go away when I went to other sites if it let me go to another site at all.  I'm pretty sure this cant be good.??

My computer worked fine.

Clear your cookies on your phone. Cookies can be more pervasive on cell phones about resetting or clearing. If the popup says 'glbads' on it somewhere as an identity, that was my mistake. It is probably stuck in memory. That is the most likely problem, especially if it just started this afternoon. Sorry about that.

If it is something else - I can't replicate it now on my blackberry - then, I would need more information anything the login request is saying. This the first I've heard of something like this.

Not sure about other phone systems, but it should be something like Options, Clear browsing data / cookies. You will need to log in again if you do that from your phone but that usually fixes most permissions problems on website things like forums.

If the popup doesn't say glbads on it anywhere, looks strange, has misspellings, bad grammar, anything else that looks out-of-place, it may be something else altogether. Let me know if the clear process doesn't get rid of it, OR if it started earlier than this afternoon between 5:30pm and 6pm. It was during that time when I made the settings mistake.

It's working fine now. I did not do anything different. It was during that time frame. Next time it happens, if it ever does. I'll take a picture.

I owe Genie a consulting fee(s) I'm sure. I don't know if I had too much coffee... or not enough?!? I have to give some credit on not making it last even longer to bassmandan!

Apparently some of my settings that allow you to do two things at once on the page don't actually record both things at once. I got a little confused and tried too hard to get some new security right. I sure was glad bassmandan mentioned my 'popup' so it dawned on me what I had done wrong!!! Yikes!!

As soon as I looked through a different, unauthenticated-at-all browser, I had the 'oh shoot!' moment and then got back in to fix i!! I may have yelled RED ALERT to my wife when I asked her to heat my dinner up for me...

That is when I realized that I had to save each part of the page separately. Sorry about the phone scare Redbone. It should have cleared on its own but I know I've had to clear my blackberry cache a couple times when it got stuck on some website's settings.

It did take me over 10 minutes to realize - thanks to bassmandan's pm comment - that I had screwed it up. Genie is so right. I do need to go to bed earlier tonight!!

If you see something like it again, you might actually have a problem! But it won't be what you saw today. You should never see that again (unless you are a hacker!! ;D - they will be seeing it a lot!)

Now, if I can just get that German dedicated server company to stop their multiple IP address bot attack, the website might speed up another 1/100th of a second since it won't be as busy sending repeated forbidden messages! Sheesh. Give up already!
