drove out today at lunch.  Don't think I have ever seen the water this low at this time of year.   They are working at the east launch with BIG pipes and equipment so maybe they are keeping the water down.   Lots of stumps and sand bars visable.  The bays on the north side have weeds growing to the surface already.   Tried to talk to a ranger but he got a call when I pulled up.  Anyone been out there??

I have not been out yet but with the water down that low it sounds like a great time to take the kayak and the fly rod out there this Saturday!

I was thinking my Jon boat and gps.  Lots of stumps to mark.  That little boat will look nice on my ranger trailer.

I just called the office at Kensington, and this is what she told me.

They normally lower the water level 3' every fall.  This year they were a little late in filling it back up do to rerouting some sewage treatment lines.

They have now begun to refill and expect the lake to be back to normal by the first of May.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Thanks rick. Guess we will have to test some jigs then

They have made a lot of improvements out at Kensington over the last couple of years. The Metro Park system has some money to spend. Development is always good for a struggling economy. Keeps people gainfully employed.

They should.  They receive a millage from 5 counties.  Then they charge sticker prices for both vehicle and boat.  Not to mention high greens fees on their golf courses.

They are in much better shape financially than the State parks.

I'm still waiting for them to improve the parking situation for the East launch at Kensington.
After the tornado here in Dexter, they'll have to spend their money this year on tree removal on the back 9 of the golf course.
