I'm heading up to torch lake this weekend to see friends.  I am going to sneak out tommorow morning and go fish one of the lakes up there.  If any one is still around which one is the easiest to catch fish in.  Never fished them before and I will only have 6 or 7 hours.   Any help would be great thanks, Scott

Dan

Hey check out our teardropbass.com web page and under 2006 articles there is a piece on the Torch chain. If I were you I would fish Skegemog. There is a DNR ramp on the southeast end of the lake. You can get into Elk fast but Torch is a ride. I have not fished the lakes this time of year but heard they get really good. There is a lot of water in the chain and with the time you have I would just stay in Skeg. Fish the mouth where it joins Elk and the east end is where they caught some hawgs during our tournament.

Thanks, a ton Dan.  I appreicate it.

Start on Clam lake and then move up the grass river to belaire. Skeger can be good but if it's not cloudy they hunker down and are hard to get .

Went to Skegemog, fishingwas very tough only found one spot were we could catch fish.  It was a ledge in 22ft with scattered weeds.  Didn't catch a bunch of fish.  The ones we did catch were big ones.              Scott

Looks like some dandy smallies Scott. Did you catch any muskies? They say Skeg gets hot during September for big muskies. Did you fish at the west end of Skegemog at all?

You passed right over old concrete dumpings and brush piles that were put there about 15 years or so ago also.

Sorry so late just got back from Stren.  What a slug fest.. Anyway I tink he is write.  There was some wacky stuff going on but I couldn't get it figured out exactly.  It was really windy and my gps wasn't very accurate because of the cloud cover.  Didn't catch any muskies.  I did fish the stump ground but could not get a pattern figured out.  I fish st clair and erie a bunch so I am perfectly comfortable going deep.  I did go out to Elk and found one stick that had 2 smallmouths on it.    Scott
