Well, Mike & I fished our first tournament in a year and a half; Mike had a job that interfered, but we're back at it again.   ;D

We fished the opener Saturday at Belleville.  (Breaking Water)  We started the day dragging Nemesis jigs across a gravel flat.  We had another boat on the other end of the flat who were popping fish pretty regular, but all of 'em small.  Mike and I however were catching less but bigger.  We managed three 2+ bass by 8:30 AM.  Needless to say, the other boat quickly joined us at our end of the flat, but couldn't catch any size.  Felt kinda nice to be putting on a little clinic for that first hour.   8)

The bite really died down after that.  We changed to another area with little wind, and got to work with the Nemesis Sicko.  The bite still stayed slow the rest of the day, but we kept grinding it out with a slow, careful retrieve.  We managed to not only add two more good fish to the box, but to cull two of our earliest fish.

We ended up with 11.94 lbs, and took first place.  We were really sweating while the rest of the bags were weighed, as we didn't think our weight would be enough for first.

When I stopped tournament fishing in 2010, it was partly because of Mike's job, but also I was kinda burned out.  I wasn't fishing well, and it just wasn't any fun anymore.  Well, Saturday morning we were both pretty geeked to be back.  After blast off & the morning run, I had to settle myself down a little, my hands were actually shaking.   ;D

It felt great for both of us to be back.  It was exciting again.  Starting the season with a win was just icing on the cake.  Thank you Nemesis!

That's awesome.  Great job, and hope to see more posts like this in the future.
