Giant 6-11 smallmouth bass and mix of big largemouth and smallmouth takes 1st place!

jcox7 drove his team of draw partner jerkbait and himself to victory and big bass with a mixed bag of big largemouth and smallmouth bass weighing 23-9, including a 6-11 Lake St. Clair smallmouth bass kicker!
jcox7 noticed we could use a few more boats for the May 11, 2013 MadWags Memorial Spring East Members Tournament on Lake St. Clair calling on Friday to sign up. That helpful gesture led jcox7 to team up with jerkbait for a 1st place finish of 5 smallmouth and largemouth bass weighing 23 pounds 9 ounces. A big 6-11 smallmouth bass anchored their victory!

We had another good turnout this year with 23 boats and 48 total anglers though there were some last minute changes due to Mikesmiph's boat trailer excitement and River Rat coming to his rescue. We had a couple youth anglers, Duncan and Andrew, fishing their 3rd and 2nd MadWags Memorial tournaments. And even though it was a little chilly during the day, the weather stayed relatively nice until we were all off the water. Then! The wind howled making for a challenging paper weigh in! But we pulled the nice cookout off and got it taken care while the waves rolled across the lake the rest of the afternoon. (PS: If I don't have your weight in the standings, it either means you didn't turn in your sheet, or it blew away!)

2nd place team of boater BMall, Kustom Kicker Jigs president 2k JIGS (Dan Hatchew) and Kukla. Kukla's excitement over the near victory with their big 20-10 5-bass limit energized everyone!
I even got to award a NEW, first-time prize this year - to Mike S. went the new MadWags Memorial Members Tournament 'Most Drama Leading Up To The Tournament' Award! Congratulations Mike S. We'll be watching you for future prizes! ;D I also had the fine chance to make a really bad joke while awarding the popular Big Ugly Prize this time to the team of "Kukla, Dan and 'Mally'" for their 3 pounds 7 ounce sheepshead (I think it was a sheepshead, or a pike?) bringing a few groans from older participants and more 'you're weird' looks from the younger set. Sorry. I couldn't resist, but congratulations to the 2013 Big Ugly Champs BMall, 2k JIGS and Kukla who drove over from the Westside to fish again!!

View all of the pictures uploaded to the 2013 Spring MadWags Memorial Lake St. Clair picture gallery.

I do want to single out one other of the many good pictures from that fun day:

Me with Mike S. right after I presented him with the first ever 'Most Drama' Award! I was still feeling it but Mike S. was all smiles!! I love a happy ending! Don't you?

If you don't know how Mike S. won this prestigious award, you'll definitely want to read your way through the 2013 MadWags Memorial Members Tournament East Sat May 11 Lake St Clair Sign Up thread!
