Anyone have an opinion or experience with the BPS Rick Clunn Sig Model with the 7:1 ratio? Plan on getting a burner and this one caught my eye. BPS catalog has it for 99 bucks which is 50 dollars cheaper than the next closest reel with the same ratio. Any feedback would be excellent.

Thanks

Mini says the same manufacturer makes the BPS reels and the Pflueger reels... and I like Pflueger reels. Best I can do personally.

If you buy online, please use one of my BPS links to go to their site - thanks!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I believe that both BPS and Pflueger reels are made by Shakespeare.

I purchased a BPS Rick clunn reel and had it out the past couple of days practicing with it in the back yard...As far as casting goes it is very smooth, but you really have to thumb the spool to keep it from backlashing..They are a little bit fussier to set up with different weights also.  I have a bunch of shimanos and they are alot less prone to backlash and are easier to cast.
I will wait to make a concrete decision until I have some fishing time with it.  I thought I would try this reel since I was buying the RC Drop shot Rod...
Drag seems fairly smooth...Won't know for sure until I put it to the test on a 6 lb smallie at the Burt and Mullet BFL....LOL

I bought two brand new quantum tour burners 7.1:1 on ebay for $140 and the other for $150, and they are $229 new, not sure what they are going for now, but all you gotta do is check completed listings. Many of the sellers are very reliable, I highly recammend buying loomis rods and expensive reels from ebay. I bought 5 loomis rods over the winter for an average of 30% off retail all brand new and flawless, and those of us who buy loomis know that they never go on sale. Check it out and save some cash.

FISH HARD!!!

I have a RC reel, not the burner though.  I used it all of last year, and I fish pretty hard 95% of the time, cranking and spinnerbaits, etc...  After a few weeks it started to develop a light grinding or whining sound on the retrieve, just sounds like it's getting a little loose and wearing on the gears a little.  Regreased it for this year and think I really screwed something up, because I had to practically break it to get it apart, and guess how it went back together. :-[  Had taken some reels to a dealer around here to get cleaned and they came back, $20 later, in the same exact condition I sent them in. >:(  Complaining got me nowhere. :'(  Now I will find out how to do things right before I decide I can do it.
Back to the point, you get what you pay for with most companies, and Bass Pro is the same.
