Paul and I are looking forward to running this event and are going to have lots of fun. I myself am hoping this is just the beginning of a 100 boat trail at every event we run

This will be one of the this years largest BASS Tournament of the YEAR!!!     HUGE- PRIZE MONEY- TV and Media COVERAGE

Here is the info from right off the NBAA web site:

NBAA DETROIT TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCED!

HUGE PAYOUT, MEDIA COVERAGE & MORE!

The City of Detroit has partnered with National Bass Anglers Association to bring anglers the First Annual Detroit Bass Open in conjunction with the International River Festival on Saturday June 23rd, 2007.
This is the big time event anglers have been looking for in Michigan. NBAA Executive Director, Jim Sprague and National Director Jack Horning were invited to participate in a press conference earlier this week with Mayor Kilpatrick and other city dignitaries to announce festival details and highlight the bass tournament.

"This is a great opportunity to showcase NBAA, our great anglers and the sport of bass angling to thousands of spectators and all of the media surrounding this event" said Sprague "
This also gives us a chance to partner with General Motors, the FLW, the City of Detroit and others to put on this great event. The city has made great strides in reviving the riverfront, and anglers are already aware of the awesome fishery that's available."

There is a guaranteed payout of $10,000 plus a special drawing for a FREE entry into the FLW Tour event coming to the Detroit area this summer. Entry fees will be $125 for teams pre registered by June 1, and $150 for anglers registering after June 1st.

This will be an "open" event, but will also be the first qualifier for NBAA members for the Double Barrel Shootout Division of NBAA, directed by Paul Sacks and Barry Narrin. NBAA members will also be eligible to earn points towards the National Championship, the Leaders Super Big Bass drawing, and Angler of the Year standings.
This will also be a Skeeter Real Money qualified event. Bonus Money up to $3,000.00

Many of the details are still being worked out. Take off and check in times are being worked around the television and other media schedules and will most likely vary from normal times. Tentative scheduling has the launching at St Jean's ramp, official televised take off from Tri Centennial Park, check in at St Jean's ramp and official trailered weigh in at Rivard Park. Details are being coordinated through the City of Detroit, the US Coast Guard, festival committees and others.

Eastside director and owner of Metro Dirt, Paul Cowen has also been instrumental in helping to initiate and plan this event and will serve as one of the official event staff members.
More details will be posted as they become available.
