Just thought I would throw this out there. While fishing the Last Chance Tournament at Cass Lake this fall, I dropped a rod and reel in the water. The rod was a Bass Pro Shops Extreme Series with a Shimano Citica reel.

It happened on the flat just past the beach as you are leaving the launch area. I was in about 3-4' of water when it happened.

The day in question was a particularly windy day, so when it hit the water, it immediately disappeared from sight. Since this happened about 10 minutes before weigh-in, I only had a couple of minutes to look for it. With the wind and wave action, even the shallow bottom was nearly impossible to focus on. Coming back out to look for it proved fruitless.

That said, I will likely replace it, but should anyone happen to come across it in their travels, I wouldn't mind getting it back. If you PM me, I can give you more detail about it, and how it was rigged. Just sayin'.

Not sure when I'll get a chance to get back out there.

what was on the end of the line? you just in case i find it  ;D

I have been there. I have a Grandt and a Quantum Tour Edition spinning reel on the bottom of White Lake. I'm sure somebody caught it by now. It is laying in a marina. I lost it 15 minutes prior to a weigh in this summer. But , I must say, my replacement for it is sweet.

Oh, I'm sure someone will find it. First reasonably calm day, it should stand out pretty well in that shallow water.

I'll probably replace it with the exact same combo (maybe upgrade the reel to a Curado). It was one of my favorites.

bob o, there was a spinnerbait on it (no fish). :'(

You'd be amazed how good things disappear out there on Cass, even in shallow, sandy water. I've seent it! But... I am also good at catching rod and reel combos. I just don't know when I will get back out there. I will let you know if I catch it but by then, it might not be in very good shape anymore.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

The only Loomis rod I own I caught through one of the eyelets.  Sweet rod.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I lost a Mitchel rod and Quantum tour edition reel (almost new combo) on Belleville lake, back in the Edison lake area, about 15 years ago.  In case any of you have come across it, it was a 7foot MH Mitchel rod, with an old style Quantum Tour edition round baitcast reel, with a brand new spinnerbait tied on, attached to a monster smallie, that caught me by supprise right by the side of the boat.

If you have found this equipment, feel free to keep it without any guilt.  You are welcome!

The first flipping stick I ever made myself I dropped into the Grand River in Lansing and it floated back up to the surface! With the reel on it!! Not sure they are supposed to float?? But hey, I got it back myself!
