I know that I asked this ? last year. So have any of you changed how you get in shape for the up coming tx season? I changed over to going to the gym 3 days a week and also going to the tanning booths. They almost feel like summer when you are just lying there. Besides I hate the 8 hr burn if the first tx happens to be a real hot one.

yeah, i've changed over -  to larger clothes...... ::) ::) ::) ::)

seriously thou, i'm going to take up some bike riding once the weather is decent. build up the leg muscles and all that. also need work on the feet as i have had foot surgery for heel spurs and gets painful standing on deck for hours on end. why i use tylenol or whatever prior to leaving house for tournaments.
if it feels good - SET THE HOOK!!

I have found that endless pacing waiting for spring has kept me fit ::)

A few years ago I had trouble with my casting elbow. Actually had to undergo physical therapy.

From that I was given several exercises utilizing small #2 and #5 weights.  (and since I never catch Bass heavier than that it's ok).  These exercises are pretty common sense.  They involve wrist curls, forearm strengtheners, and ones using each of the major muscle groups in my arms and shoulders.

I also do exercises for my back.  Many of which actually strengthen the belly muscles, and the leg muscles.

I walk when the weather's nice, or ride my bike.  I'm working on getting a fluid trainer for my bike for winter training.

When there's not all of this snow on the ground, I walk around the back yard casting to targets.  Coach says to practice the way you play.  I use both my baitcasters, and spinning gear.  That way I improve accuracy, tone muscles, and escape the non-Bass season doldrums.  My wife laughs at me, but she doesn't understand the need.

I keep my knot tying fingers in shape by typing on this keyboard everyday on the forum.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I have begun getting in shape as well. Also, I've found the 12" thick ice has really improved my upper body strength.  ;D I figure if I can drill 30 holes like I did Sunday, I'll be in great shape for the upcoming season. ;D ;D

Thanks for the visual STACKENUM, I puked for three minutes! :D

I've been keeping in shape by cutting wood, I have no choice, we heat the 100+ year old farm house and two 30x60 green houses. Which equates to a usage of 1 face cord a day. If I want to or not, almost every Saturday and Sunday consists of heading to the fields and taking out hedge rows for my farming neighbor. We cut between two and three full cords of wood a week.

It doesn't make me feel that much better, it just keeps me sore enough as if I was fishing on Erie every week all winter long. My back, my knees, my arms... everything hurts! ::)

I try and keep the dexterity in my fingers so I can quickly tie knots. You should see me work a remote control, it really is impressive. Actually though I have had a lot of problems this winter with my elbow, lots pain when I move it, loss of feeling in my forarm, I got a cortisone shot 2 weeks ago, just hoping it lasts a while.

I stay in shape by polishing the seat in my office for 8 hours a day and then I go home and relax in my nice lazy boy chair and tell my 3 year old to fetch daddy another beer and a bag of pork rinds. I didnt know that having kids was going to be so much fun. Maybe that is why I have gained 20 pounds since september.

i like to do pushups situps and weights monday, wendsday, friday. and run or bike tuesday, thursday, saturday. that gets your arms and legs in shape and works your cardio.

RipNLips

i used to swim in high school and that ussally keeps me in shape for the summer months. other then that ill work out my arms all summerlong with those 12 ozers
When in doubt, set the HOOK!!!

keepin busy hunting or ice fishing...keeps the mind in tune with things as well as providing a workout at times. running, lifting weights, playin basketball a lot. Then by the time its ice off I'll be on the water from  dawn till dusk all weekend...fishing for gills crappie and umm dogfish. I never bring a seat so my legs get used to it real fast and I'm good to go all season. I think the most important thing and most overlooked thing though is to keep active outside it keeps the mind in tune to stay focused and make those ever important decisions on the water.

i put heavier springs in the remote and key board.  put the snacks in the garage fridge so i have to walk out there. been using a lighter Blankie on the couch to get ready for cold weather.  been watching Roland Martin re-runs all winter so i figure i am ready to go.
