My son has fished with me in tournaments since he was 7 or 8, but he started last year fishing out of his own boat with his friend both were 14. He fished NBAA weeknight tournaments and as long as you have your parents written permission than you can fish.

I cant forget my daughter who is 11, she loves going to tournaments with me she even caught big bass twice last year.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

My son is 12 and he fished with me in the FOM and the NBAA last year.  He did a great job too.  He is fishing with me full time on Monday nights this year in the NBAA.

The bigger and/or boater/nonboater circuits like BFL usually have a 16 year old lower limit with written parental consent. I think ABA is about the same.

The team tournaments are more flexible. Many don't have an age limit if you fish with a parent or guardian and/or just require written consent like NBAA.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I started fishing tournies when I was 15 a good way to go about that is to join a bass club. Its not that expensive and you end up learning a lot. You can fish as a non boater and learn some new stuff from guys. I'm in a club right now based out of Pinckney Avid Bass Anglers of Michigan. I see your from Gregory   so I am! Well I went to high school in Chelsea but ive got the Gregory Mailing address. Shoot me a PM if you want some more info on the club or tournies in the area. Here is the Website for AVID http://www.geocities.com/avidbassanglersofmichigan/

I also started tournament bass fishing with NBAA at 15, now I am 19 and havent missed a year with nbaa.

I will be fishing as a co-angler for the BFL this year and i cant wait. Only if i had my own boat, i would be fishing the angler side.

Touranment fishing at a young age has been so benificalle to me, i have learned so much and met so many great anglers.
When in doubt, set the HOOK!!!
