yeah...we tore the gears up in the lower-end this year. Got DQ'd because we were 3 hrs late... ;D....it's too bad cause we had 19 pounds of brown footballs...oh well...$*!& happens

McCarter

I was DQd from the first tournament i ever fished.  Dont know why exactly.  someone claimed we werent wearing our life vests.  which we were.  But it was there word against ours and the tournament director liked them more.  Funny thing is, the guys who made this claim watched my partner and i catch a limit on Pontiac lake in about 45 minutes, then later watched me land a 4.25 lb kicker.  They had about 9 lbs, we had about 12 lbs.  we got DQd, they took 1st place.

DQd from a few others for being late.  Once in a BFL 2 Day, when Lt Dans motor fell off :D and another in a BFL on the Grand River when my boater Goober decided he wanted to start fishing again after he put all his gear away and we only had 25 minutes to get back to Riverside from Spring lake.  I think it was the 2.5 lber i had just caught on a dock that changed his mind.  But needless to say, we got back late.  I weighed my fish in anyway, it was 2.5 on the money.  That fish would have helped a lot.

ANd of course there was the time i blew my motor 15 minutes into the ABA 2 day on St Clair.  I think i have been DQd from half the tournaments i have fished.

Oh, i subbed for YukonJack in a NBAA last season and got DQd for coming in late.  SOrry Jack.

McCarter himself :-\'

dang brian lmao after reading yours!
I blew a lower unit on mead on day 1 got it replaced that same day got permission from the tournament directer to run it that night and left it in the water with a few other boats, we put carpet on the sand and beached them with the anchor out on the bank, in the night the wind came up and somebody checked our boats and pulled mine up too far and water filled my skeeter and sunk it, she never was the same in a tournament again, she practiced fine but at tournaments I would lose a starter then ignition amongst other phantom problems that would come and go.
My brand new champion I had before that had a 150 black max and she was very cold blooded, one tournament she wouldnt start and killed the battery so I fished the tournament with my trolling moter and killed those batteries I thought I was going to have to camp and eat my fish but just before dark a buddy came looking and found me.
I sure hope those kinda days are long behind me.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!  LOL!   I haven't been DQed......YET!

I only came close once.

Blew the lower unit running to our morning spot.  Fished for 1 hour and boated 2 fish.   Turned the trolling motor on high until I found a friend from the club and borrowed his cell phone to call a friend of mine to bring me his boat  I then found the President of the club on the water and told him we blew the LU and were getting another boat.  We showed him our 2 fish and went on our way.  We used the trolling motor to get to another launch....since the blast off launch was 7 miles away.   My friend met us at this launch and drove my partner to the blast off launch to get my truck & trailer (I stayed with the boat & fish).  We then parked my truck, trailer & boat at the other launch.....transferred the fish into my friends boat.......launched and then found the President of the club and showed him our 2 fish...again after transferring boats.   We then went back to fishing.

We ended up missing out on 3 1/2 hours of fishing time.   Came in with a total of 5 fish (7 fish limit) and  WON the tournament!!!    Yes.......a few teams were crying fowl afterward because we used a cell phone and they did not feel it was an emergency.

What some people will do to try and win........by disquallifying others!!  LMAO!!

The only thing that changed in the entire tournament is that WE LOST 3 1/2 HOURS OF FISHING time!!! LMAO!!

Sorry for the long post........but I giggle everytime I thing of it.  Of course my partner and I are ALWAYS looking ove our shoulders now!!
Make sure the life vest is secured, teather switch hooked, vest on before big motor starts.....etc...etc...etc....  You never know who is going to squeel.

And these tournaments are suppose to be fun!  ???

I was dq'd from a tournament one time because the td said one of my fish didn't bump.  So I lost all my fish,  I was so mad I just threw them back in the water,  my hubby protested but because I threw my fish back there was nothing I could do about it.  I had the courtesy bump and he got the fish to measure.

Later that night the td came over and said he was sorry,  I shouldn't have been dq'd. I should have just had a penalty. And he was truely sorry but it was to late and I lost my weight for the total weight.  I wasn't going to win the tourney but loosing my weight upset me.

That is the only time I have been dq'd although there was another time some people thought I should have been because I brought in one to many fish,  I got excited I'd never had a limit before,  didn't get dq'd but caused alot of anomosity for a while.  They took my big fish and I ended up third!  But I'm really careful about how many fish I have now!  People even wanted the guy I was fishing with dq'd.  He didn't have to many fish!

Glad that is over :).

MYNAME

I was once late by 1 min and got dq'd  there had been a rule change i was un aware of where you get dq'd instead of a pound a minute.  I was late fighting a 4lber so the pound a minute didnt bother me.  turns out i had enough to win even without that 4.  was a 10 boat tourney and it doesnt really matter.  Silverminnow still teases me about it today  though.  Thats the most embarrassing part

This brings up a point I have been thinking about...What if you are fishing as a Co-Angler and you tell your boater "HEH it is time to go" and he refuses and attempts to push the time and you end up late...Can you protest???? I am speaking about BFL type Draw tournaments...
From what I have read it appears that the Co is totally at the mercy of the Boater as far as some of these violations.

Skip Johnson

yep totaly at the mercy of the boater, in "most" cases the boater knows better than the co angler how long it will take to get in, I have seen my share of upset co anglers at the ramp, I always try to allow myself a couple extra minutes per 10 miles and I rarely use them but theres been a couple times that it was very close its all part of the game.

Been Dq'd a few times - all for being late.  Day 1 of a stren here on the DTW River, the Boater I was paired with ran up to Fawn Island - on the way back thru the N channel - lost a lower end.  Had to drift/TM all the way to Metro.

Pulled a bonehead move in a BFL and wrote down the wrong time - was 30 min late coming in.

Oh yeah - and had help from McCarter being late for me as well - like I need help at that.  Only Kidding Brian!

2003 BFL st-clair,  fishing as a co-angler.  my first bass tournament.  we take off across the lake.  first stop we each catch 5 nice fish.  my boater says we are off to his big fish spot.  he starts the motor puts it in gear and it makes real bad noises that motors are not supposed to make.  we drift all day and finally get a tow in 15 min late.  we weigh our fish and after the weigh in is over we get the call to come to the trailer.  we were DQ'd for being late. ( we knew it ).. turns out i had enough fish to get a check..  if i had gotten the check i probably would have retired right then...now 4 years later i have my own boat and am hooked.  i see the boater a few times a summer and remind him it is all his fault.
