Aaron Martens Interesting Adventure

Southern Hospitality to the Rescue for Amart and Me

I had the distinct pleasure of riding along with one of the best professional bass anglers in the world Wednesday, the last official practice day for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic. Of course, we were on Alabama's Lake Guntersville and I was with Aaron Martens.

Read the complete adventure on GreatLakesBass.com Tournament News.

Thanks. I really enjoyed my day with Aaron. Super nice guy. Super friendly. Mind going 1,000 miles a minute.

One of the things I love about fishing is unexpected adventures and this was a great one that you will never forget!  Thanks for passing it on.

You're welcome.

I left out a few things... but the gist of the story is there. I will add one thing - I ran into Boyd Duckett at the hotel and told him I was supposed to troll down the lake, I guess, hollering his name for some gas.

Boyd said good thing his neighbor James Whitaker came through because he wasn't home so no help would have been forthcoming... Boyd also added that he knows James well, and he's a real nice guy. I do agree with that. For sure.

The people down there were really nice. It is so refreshing to go somewhere where everyone welcomes you, and goes out of their way to let you know they're glad you're there, and they appreciate your visit. I told the Alabama Fisheries Chief that he lives in a world alien to ours in some fundamental ways, and I sure would love to live in his universe...

Do you know the Alabama version of the DNR actively partners with bass tournaments and tournament circuits?!? Can you imagine that world? Everyone was involved at every level from the Alabama Governor down to small town police departments providing traffic control.
