Whats the general consensis with colors clear water vs dark sunny days vs cloudy?

General consensis is, dark water darker color. Although a brite vived color can be seen from a long distance in clear water In dark water you want to create a shadow of movement, aganst a dark back ground.that the fish can see.

Sometimes other factors cause exceptions to produce better, particularly by season, weather trend and types of waters or bass.

It's very interesting and breaks down light and color penetration based on different water colors and clarities.  Good read for this topic.

I wish there was a like button on here like facebook. Cause got fish is right on. Years ago I would have always thought that brighter colors in stained water was the ticket. But from my experience and magazines,books and tv shows tells what really catches fish.

Not all colors, hold their ture color the deeper it go's. Bright and light colors reflect the colors that suround it.  Water color, the color of the bottom and the color of the structure your fishing. Even  the  color of the sky. Play a large factor in ,color presentation and selection.  Most colors lose their hùghs past 20ft. Natural colors will hold their color the longest. As thay  get close to 20ft.

My all time favorite color has always been black. Followed by a darker green.

Gold is a good reflecter in dark water. It  draws light  from the water and I'ts surounding structure. Team it up with your black and green.

Always looking to try new stuff. Alot of places I fish have dark/stained water. One that sticks out is Belleville.

If you find anything that works well at Belleville, please share it with me, because that lake has always caused me fits of rage.  Everytime I think about that lake, I think of a comment Gerald Swindle made when he fished Muskegon Lake during this years past All Star Weekend.  "Yall better practice catch and release here, because of you loose any of the nine fish that live here, you in trouble."
The only thing I have found that works somewhat (and I use that term loosely) is a dark green jig with a little bit of black in it.  Even then, you better flip to every possible piece of structure you see hoping that the jig drops in front of their face, otherwise not much else seems to work for me.

Lol. It is a tough lake. I did a tournament last year and plan to do more this year. I think thats what draws me there. Besides being one of the closest lakes besides erie/det river. I mostly go there when the big lake is churned up, windy or low water at launch due to wind. I've started fishing it more this last year.
