I have a ranger 180vs. I just changed from a lms480m in dash to a hds-5. I took a brief look at the wiring and it looks like it might hook right up. The question is I looked in the inside bottom of boat and noticed what looks like 2 shoot thru hull tansducers? One i looked up and it is a wide angle but no temp. Any ideas what the other is? Im sure it was dealer installed new. It is a 2006 model boat. Also should the power wire hook up the same? Thx...

Does or did the boat have a flasher in the dash?  Could be for that.  Temp is probably mounted externally by the motor jackplate.  Typical with through hull ducers to have a separate temp that way.

By flasher do you mean the older flasher type fish finder? It has a PD-WBL, which is a thru hull with no temp. The other one is up on the step about a foot or less from the transom. It is about 1/2" or so in diameter. I will go this weekend and try to trace down all the wiring. Maybe even call the guy I bought the boat from.

Yes - I still have a Lowrance flasher in the dash of my boat ... pretty common for that year of boats and maybe still.  The flasher has a "puck" and a depth finder has a "puck".  Any temp probe would be about the dimensions of a paperclip and brass or bronze and mounted outside the boat in the back obviously.

I did a little more research and I think it's a thru hull temp. Some are thru the bottom, some go out the back and some are the little bronze things that go over the transom under the water line and attach to the boat.
