For those of you planning on hitting LSC for the C&R opener this weekend, I wanted to give you an update on what conditions where this past weekend.  And just to make sure this information isn't misconstrued, I was NOT fishing.  I did my preseason maintenance/tune up on the boat and then took it out and ran it around to make sure everything was good to go.  I actually removed all my rods and tackle from the boat before launching so that if by chance I was stopped, there couldn't be any way for anyone to claim I was fishing.
Anyways,  I launched from the 9 mile launch and ran down to the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Area.  Water temps ranged from 46.2 - 47.8.  The water had very limited visibility with a heavy greyish tint to it.  I didn't mark many fish on my electronics, but those that I did were about 3 feet down in 6 - 7 feet of water.  After leaving the GPYC area, I ran to the area behind Ford House and found similar water conditions there, just a little warmer. Temps were between 47.1 and 49.3.  I then ran back into Fords Cove to check conditions there.  Still very murky water, but the temps were between 50.2 and 51.5.
I cannot wait for Saturday to get here!  I'm thinking I will start by throwing a black and blue 3/8 oz chatterbait, but also have a xr50 lipless (in ghost), and Smithwick jerkbait (in Ayu) tied on laying on deck as well.  I did quite well early last spring with chatterbaits on LSC and hope to do the same this year.
Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable opening weekend

ya might want to tie on a blade bait too  ;)

I second that.. A bronze 1/2 oz silver buddy should do the trick.

I have never really given a blade bait much of a chance.  Maybe I will give them a try this year...I have read a lot of good things about them on this site recently.

Great report Tim.  Thanks.

Those water temps seems cccold!

Bald baits are definitely what I will be throwing too.

Thanks for the update. Was debating on heading over to the big pond this weekend myself. We tore it up last year on the opener.
