I have some relatives that get together once a year for a Bass fishing trip.  This is my year to host, but I don't know where to take them.  I have heard some good things about Fletchers, but am not sure.  Any advice on a location that would make a great fishing destination would be appreciated.  Thanks guys!!

I've never been to Fletchers.  I plan on it this June.  There seems to be several reasonably priced places to stay.

If small mouth is your game though.... there's always Lake St. Clair.  Love that lake.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Probably, Late Spring/Early Summer.

OUTLAW

Fletchers can be a dangerous place to run a boat. I would say for numbers duck and green, there are some giants in those lakes to. or Portage lake north of manistee.

Ah yes, there are so many good lakes in the northwest corner it's really hard to pick. What type of accomodations are you looking for? If you want to camp, I would recommend Duck Lake, at Interlochen State Park. You can rent cabins there that sleep 4 and there are two of them. You will need reservations. From the state park, you could fish Duck, Green, Long, Leelanau, the Bay, Torch Chain, and they are all premium bass lakes. You also get good eats nearby, and all you want in terms of entertainment at night, ie. the casinos, movies, etc. in Traverse City. If you are going to motel it, then maybe Hamlin Lake, Portage Lake, Crystal. Hamlin has it all, and even a bobber fisherman is going to catch fish there and multi species. Hamlin Lake is our most consistent heavy sack lake if you look at the season from beginning to end. Early season and bed fishing.... well then its whereever you want to go depending on the week and the stage of the spawn. You could  stay at Little River Casino for $75 a night and fish 4 good lakes within 45 min drive. Haven't even considered Lakes like Cadillac and Mitchell, Missaukee, Tippy Dam backwaters, or Croton/Hardy.

Alright Lt. Dan, why can't I modify this post and correct Mitcheck. Modified it 3 times and it just goes back to the original misspelling? Even here it won't spell Mitchell.

It doesnt know if you wanted Mitchell or Spellcheck and it thinks it's smarter than you so it just combines them for you!

I almost don't want to fix it. Much funnier this way ;D ;D ;D almost as funny as the old spoon episode...

Fletchers is hot right now for big largemouth... but you will have to take very good precautions about running around the lake due to the heavy wood cover all over the lake. I want to make it there sometime this year - depends on gas prices.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Take them to Black Lake near Onaway.    Big smallies & largies.    They should be on beds and new fish moving in.    Should be an excellent trip for you!
