Save you time - Michigan lakes
#69 Saginaw Bay
#58 Bays de Noc
#45 Burt/Mullet
#28 Lake Charlevoix
#17 Grand Traverse Bay
#3 St. Clair

Erie is listed twice at #22/19 with different states

I don't know much about Grand Traverse Bay - been out before and wasn't impressed but don't know the area.

I would add Grand/Long to this list somewhere probably close to Burt/Mullet.

Charlevoix should be ranked higher right now. It's still shocked-full of tons of smallmouth bass - a fish factory.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Skulley

We're very fortunate to live so close to the #3 lake in the country and a lake that has been consistently in the Top 20 over the last few years.   :D

Definitely going to hit there next June.  How is the July and August fishing there?  Heard from you guys that Burt and Mullet get tough in the summer.

Nothing beats Great Lakes Smallmouth!

It gets tougher but you can still catch smallies there depending on the wind. Shallow in the morning and deeper during the day but not super deep until later in the fall before they start moving shallow again. All of the Northern lakes are kind of like that, and there are spots to go after shallower fish and forage bases that can make the fishing easier too if you learn and target for them.
