Had an unfortunate incident happen in our series this week.  An experienced angler had a run with a new tournament angler.  The veteran was not happy and chose to yell at the young angler with loud and vulgar language.  The incident was witnessed by another competitor and a protest was filed.  The director drew 3 names, they reviewed the protest and the veterans were DQ'd. They would have won the event.

Guess what bothers me most is I do this for fun.

If you are unhappy with what someone else does talk the them about it and move on.  There is no need to handle it the way they did.

Kind of glad we were on the other end of the lake and didn't witness the exchange.

Yelling and swearing is never warranted if all parties are being adult and professional. Usually counter-productive too anyways to alleviating future misunderstandings.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

A swearing yelling person is a demonstration of a person who has one or all of the following:

A) Loss of control by a controlling person
B) Basic social skills
C) Someone raised by low esteem parents who yelled at them
D) turretts

If they yelled and swore enough to get DQd by a random panel of 3, it must have been bad enough. I hope they learn from this. And the kid who came in too close should know casting distance minimum, and 'try' to not jack up in front of the direction someone is trolling......

Dartag, don't let it discourage you. Everyone has to learn their lessons in life along the way, both parties will learn from this.

I had this problem Sat. a person I didn't know came and fished within a half cast of me in the river.  I was upset that he thought he was doing nothing wrong.  I made a few comments no yelling or cussing.  He wasn't catching anything a half cast away so then he drifted down so he could cast where I was catching my fish again I made a comment but still he didn't care.  After about 20 min I assumed he had no where else to go and the fish were all the same size so I left.  My co was amazed at how calm I was over the whole thing but I told him that yelling and threating won't help us catch fish.  I just wish everyone would live by the golden rule.  Don't do something to anyone that you wouldn't want done to you.

I agree. Some of these kinds of people claim to live by the Golden Rule yet they seem to no apply it the same way to themselves, which obviously won't work. Glad you kept your cool and are good enough to have other options. I never liked it when people did that to me over the years. I wouldn't do it to other though I was in the boat a few times as a backseater when the person up front did it to someone else. I voiced my opinion. Sometimes it made for discussion, and sometimes the person seemed to be applying the rules differently to themselves. I've rarely been in the boat with someone who thought it was okay to have this done to them even if they thought it was okay to do it to someone else.

You have always demonstrated the finest example of a professional. I hope you jump to the big leagues because you have the gift, and the big guys could learn from you.
