The call of Lake St. Clair is powerful so no surprise that cameraguy says lets go fishing Wednesday (8-16-2017), and lets go to St. Clair again! Okay. Not a hard sell for me... We were a little slow to start so didn't get out real easy.

Start the day off moderately deep on the Mile Roads short-hopping a tube and what do I catch right off the bat! (grrrrr...!?!) A Northern Pike, of course, just out there somewhere in the open water. The Xtreme Bass Tackle Formula G3 is still our first tube of choice.

cameraguy says you gotta get a picture with. I tell him he can grab it if he wants to get a picture... So he did! (The guy really does like those toothy pike!!)

The multi-species morning on St. Clair continues as I set my tube into a logperch! Haven't caught one of those in a long time. Upped the ante by landing a rock bass on the tube a few minutes later. What next? A rainbow trout maybe?

A better picture by cameraguy of my little Lake St. Clair logperch that somehow ended up caught on my tube hook. Don't know how I managed it. Felt bad for the little fella. It was probably nibbling at the tentacles of my Xtreme Bass Tackle Formula G3 tube! Logperch are one of the few darter-type minnows that anglers tend to catch. I'm hearing more reports than normal this year from bass anglers catching them so maybe their numbers are up? Some subspecies of small stream logperch are endangered but Northern Logperch in St. Clair seem to be doing fine.

Ok... That's better!! Deeper on the Mile Roads, I switch to the drop shot Lil Magic Stick and pop a good one! Only a couple more small bites in the area though... thought we had it figured out!

After fishing near the shipping channel a bit with only a couple missed bites we run back to my preferred South Shore area, and right away my Formula G3 tube gets smacked by species #5 - sheepshead... I am the 'sheepmaster' after all!! ;D

This sheepie 'quit fighting' part way to the boat like they do only to then strip out 20+ feet of line when it got to the boat. It stripped line 3 more times before it quit fighting again.

Then Mark gets the snapping tube working and hooks a good one! Formula G3 tube again. Hooks another good one but it gets off...

cameraguy gets this one into the boat deep along the South Shore aggressively snapping a Formula G3 tube out of the grass!

Missed a few odd bites on the tube on the South Shore so I switched to the drop shot Lil Magic Stick again and caught another good one. Boy! They fight so hard! After that we both lost several bass. Had 1 dink that hit 7 times and I STILL lost it at the boat!?!

The end of the day I made a long cast with the tube. Hooked another Good one! Bull-dogging sideways and after moving it about 10 feet it pulled off. Mark said we had 5 minutes left. I picked up the spybait. Third cast I hooked another good one! Sideways, head-shaking like the last one and it pulled off AGAIN!?! Just one of those days I guess.

But I'll be back!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
