I used to be very active w/ the political process when I was involved with my union.  There, I learned that so few people every contact their reps/senators, that when a rep gets about 10 -15 contacts from their constituents, they feel that it is a mandate.
In these days of electronics, it's very easy to contact them.  Even if you don't know who they are.

For state senators:

For state reps:

Click on  a few tabs, and you can contact your elected officials easillyvia email.

(I don't know why these aren't appearing as hot links.... guess I'll contact somebody)

They look like links to me. Thanks a bunch fiker50.

If you go to the Senate one, click on the "Find your Senator" link top right.

On the House web site, hold your mouse over the Representatives button near the top left, and click the "Find a Representative" menu choice.

You may need these for the MDNR withheld money issue and later for efforts to stop the Michigan lead ban.

I guess they are.
When I wrote them, it didn't look like they were going to work.

I contacted both my Senator and rep on Fri morning.  I was impressed that they got back to me within about 2 hours - the constituency representative was not aware of the withheld money issue on the ballot in NOV, but said she would look into it and get back to me  Monday.  I was impressed at the promptness of their response - now, lets see where the stand on the issue.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them

That's impressive. The ballot issue is to give all these special funds constitutional protection, which they don't have right now.

I have not heard back from MUCC yet on the status of the withheld money. I am meeting with the MDNR fisheries management team Wednesday, so I may find out more then.
