I think BASS has missed again!!

They are canceling a few tournaments to help out with cost but also shrinking payouts substantially.  I think in the long road the guys would have rather traveled more with a better chance of at least cashing a $10,000 check.

I would still like to see the PAA be able to have a full-time circuit.  I believe this is where they are heading!

Anyone sign up to be a marshall?  I see they are advertising pretty heavily!  Interested to see what happens on that end as well.

My brother is signed up as a marshall for Florida.  i will post what his thoughts are after i hear.  he said they were really short on observers and were even looking for more boaters when he called last week

I don't think they are going to Florida this year ???

my mistake,  the PAA is in Florida this week.   the field is a good mix of both tours.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

due to lack of entries they did away with co-anglers for this year.

The PAA has observers, and they don't charge the $100 which is nice. You probably don't get the shirts and hats either though.
They don't have the advertising capabilities that B.A.S.S. has and finding enough riders may be tough for them. I wouldn't be surprised that in some tournaments that they may need more observers, but in my opinion, the Marshall program is still a great deal. $100 to spend 16 hours with two Elite Series pros and maybe three pros if you get in the top 50. Guys spend much more going to the schools  where the pros are there for only a couple hours at a time. I was an observer in Florida for three days and rode with three different state champions, and yes at times my head drooped after having to get up three days with no sleep at night because I was blogging till the wee hours, but I made some lifelong friends at that event. I can't wait to get a shot at being a Marshal at the Wheeler event. I'll also have an opportunity to hawk my sponsors wares. Handing the pros a gift of a box of lures just might get their baits in an Elite series pros hands. If they do use them do well .... When you have a product the marketing because critical. What an easy way to get your goods in the hands of top level pros.

New revised payouts from BASS, this should make it easier on alot of guys to atleast break even by making the top 50 consistantly. Atleast BASS is listening to their anglers and trying to make it right.  Notice the Oneida dates have also been changed to not conflict with the forrest wood cup.

BASS revises payouts 1/15/2009
BASS today released newly revised payouts and entry fees for its 2009 Bassmaster Elite Series. BASS stated that the newest revision was made "in light of recent feedback."

Entry fees were increased to $41,600 for the 8-event season (up from the previously announced $32,000). Payouts were adjusted accordingly and can be found below. Note that significant money was moved from the Angler of the Year program into regular-season events, alongside the increase in entry fees, so that anglers who finish 50th or better will now win at least $10,000.

In addition, BASS moved its rescheduled Oneida Elite Series back to its original dates of Aug. 13–16, and hence there is no longer a Forrest Wood Cup conflict.

FISH HARD!!!

Ryan

It is still really dissapointing that they are canceling the Bay de Noc tournament, but it is understandable and reassuring to know that they are willing to listen to their anglers and attempt to make things right.  Clearly, they realized they had made a mistake and were willing to take the steps to try and correct it.
