i love to fish docks.. i learned along time ago, go with heavy line.. docks are some of the gnarlest stuff you'll ever fish so skimping on light line aint worth it.. i use 30-60 pound braid or fire line.depending on which rod/reel i am using..
i skip my bait in, under, or around the docks..i use a conacopia of baits from jigs to texas rigged 12" worms..i don't shakey head docks waste of time really imo.. i use heavier bullets or jigs normally a 3/16oz or a 1/4 oz bullet 3/8oz or a 1/2oz jig.. remember guys dock fishing is a "drop bait" situation..you put the bait in der and let it fall..

i skip a senko on 30lb braid, custom made 6'6" MH spinning rod - soon to be a 6'3" when i lop off  3" of the handle. I also like to pitch a 1/4oz pegged t-rig beaver on 15-17lb pline or floro.

I use P-Line Evolution, 8# on a 6'6" Loomis IMX spinning rod, with a Tennessee handle. I move the reel all the way up the cork. It fishes more like a 6'2" rod rigged this way, very accurate skipping under docks and pontoons. The reel is a Shimano Stradic MG. I use my own stik baits T-rigged weightless on a Gamakatsu 2/0 keeper hook. I get lots of bites and don't lose very many fish.

I tried using heavier line but did not get near as many bites. I tried longer rods too but keep coming back to this set up. It just seems to work the best for me.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
