Time for bed, but a few people have asked me about Mullett Lake in the past few days. The 1 bass hog tournament is one tomorrow and most of the anglers are not on Mullett (so I assume they are on Burt, but I hear the ramp there is shallow and bad right now and the fishing isn't much better).

I'm not up here to fish any tournament. I just want to catch as many big smallies as I can. Today was not much of a day for that. Light wind until near dark when a stiff west breeze kicked up, but it rained all day yesterday, all night and part of the money.

We actually had some sun for a few minutes here and there in the afternoon, but mostly gray and cloudy. Chilly on the water. Temps were up a hair today to 57-58 F.

Fishing was very slow. Few bass being seen though I found two mega toads I could not get interested in much of anything I tried. I did have 7 or 8 wimpy bites. Landed 2 solid, fat bass on my trusty fall spinnerbaits (the one that hit all chartreuse really ripped it). Saw a few followers.

Managed this one pretty nice one on a Zoom Super Hog in my favorite watermelon candy Texas-rigged in some scattered wood on the bottom:

I am headed up to Cadillac Wednesday to take my dad out for a few days on the North west side..I was thinking about GTB, but with the North winds forecast I was going to back down to Cadillac and Mitchell....You Northern report has me a little worried though....If they aren't hitting well on Burt and Mullet they probably aren't hitting well anywhere....

Do they let water out of Mitchell in the fall is that why it is lower....????

That has been the case on many Northern lakes for many (but not all) anglers. Unfortunately. The wind has been a little worse than annoying every other day. I'm not much of a drift and drag guy and the few spots I probably could do good on Sunday had tournament boats on them for an annual late season big bass event I've never fished. I just like to catch all sizes that time of year :)

I bailed and went largemouth fishing today (Monday) before I headed home. That went a little better. Flipping flooded and fallen trees and a remote lake was a lot of fun. Only one other boat on the lake.
