I fish the various river systems/reservoirs throughout Michigan, the Shad population seems to be very large this year, just curious what some of your favorite baits/cranks are when the fish are really keying in on Shad? I have pretty much used a Shad Rap in a couple different colors the majority of the time the past few years, curious to see what some of you guys like to use in these situations? Just found the site, very impressed, thanks for any info you would be willin to share!

I fish crankbaits a lot.  I find that anything that looks like a shad when the fish are feeding on shad works.  It doesn't matter what brand. I like Bill Norman Professional Edge crankbaits.  I lean toward using them more than any other brand.  However, the Stikeking sexy shad as well as the Bomber Fat Free Shads work well also.  As I said, as long as it looks like a shad and moves like a shad, the bass will eat it.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check them out. I forgot to mention, main reason for me asking this was looking for some cheaper alternatives to Rapala, it seems every time I turn around they cost another dollar than they did the last time I bought them...

all those cranks are great crankbaits, but the "bandit" crankbait needs to be in there,it,s a great year round crank and it's cheap(in fact i never seen a crankbait work so good and be price'd so low) and bandit cranks come in every color imaginable another crank that has been fast becoming a mainstay in my box is(i almost don't want to say lol) the LIVE TARGET bluegill crank, these guys are doing an aewsome job of creating crankbaits that straight catch fish and are moderately priced!!!

I have to agree on the Bandits.  The Bandit 100 series in the Baby Bass pattern is my absolute favorite.  I also use the Norman's, and the Bomber's.  All are relatively cheap, and produce fish.
