Well, better late than never (and I sure enjoy reliving it)! Here is Amazon angler Jim Taylor fighting easily, the biggest catch of our week on the Rio Negro deep in the Amazon jungle in Northwestern Brazil. I hope you enjoy The Adventures of Gator Jim!

The battle actually took about 30 minutes of long runs at some amazing speeds! After checking things out a little, I figured out this was a full grown spectacled caiman - about the max size they get. The most common type in the Amazon. There were quite a few caiman in this particular backwater including some less common black caiman - the biggest gators in our hemisphere. We watched one swim across the middle of the bay past two poles stuck in the middle of a bar that were over 10 feet apart.

This huge black caiman was longer by several feet than the poles were apart!! A monster 12 or 13 plus footer!! Even the guide pointed and said beeg boy!! During the week we saw two other black caiman in that same guide range.

That right there makes it all worth it!!!! Thank you so much for a comment and the feedback!!! I really do like living again (and again... and again...) Man!!! That was so much fun!!! I really almost did jump on its back! I wanted to really bad... but I didn't know who would hold the camera!! And even that almost didn't stop me (because I'm a little crazy and) just think of those memories!!!
