Big Ten Bass Fishing Championship Desperate for Boater Volunteers PLEASE HELP

There are college kids traveling from 9 Big Ten schools this week to our Lake St. Clair and some of them will be left standing on shore. Please don't let this happen.

We need 4 more boater volunteers to take them out practicing this Saturday October 2nd and then take them out fishing their tournament on Sunday October 3rd.

Numbers of anglers and hunters keep dropping at an alarming rate. We need to keep getting more new people into the sport. School programs are an unbelievable opportunity to do that. And can you imagine having fishing as a recognized college sport?!? As it is right now, the kids are putting this event on themselves and relying on us to get them out fishing.

Lets not let this opportunity fade away as other opportunities have. We are all busy. Many of us are short on funds. Me too. The event is limited to US waters only. You should get some gas money from your two anglers. Most will fish Anchor Bay or the Mile Roads only. You can see full details on the CBAA board below under College Fishing.

Please, please help out. All you need is a boat capable to take out 3 persons on Lake St. Clair with a working livewell. Three life jackets are a big plus since many of the kids don't have their own. You can fish and help them with spots on Saturday, but Sunday it is all up to the college kids and you can't fish (bring extra coffee). They can work together since it is an inter school competition and the top three teams from each school are added up to compete.

Last year, Michigan State University won on Lake St. Clair. They were originally planned to go to the Ohio River this year, but they were unable to get the boater volunteers down there to hold their event (shame).

Please contact me if you are willing to help. You can post in the topic under CBAA below in the College Fishing forum, but since my wife is having surgery tomorrow, please email me at djkimmel at greatlakesbass dot com if you can help because I don't know how consistently I'll be online for couple days. THANKS!

I've had two volunteers who had to back out for various reasons which has put us under more pressure to come up with enough boaters.

Lost another boater so now we probably need at least 5 more boater volunteers or we will have kids standing on shore after a long drive for nothing...

Dan, I have a 15 foot aluminum boat with a 40hs live well and. A 50lb trolling motor. Also a sometimes functional fish finder.  I personally can't go, but its insured if someone else wants to go they can take my boat.

I appreciate the offer Frank. I'm more than a little nervous risking someone's boat on the big water who won't be there. I'll ask the college guys what they think. Thanks!
