Has anyone tried melting and re poring soft plastics? I have about a thousand creature baits I don't use and was wondering if they can be melted and pored into jig trailers? Can it be done and if so, how ?

U can remelt some brands and not others.  U can use a microwave and pyrex cup or a stainless pot and hot plate.  Dont do it in the house.  Seriously.  If u go with the pyrex cup method do ur research first.  If ur not careful u can blow them up.  U are more than welcome to bring em over and use my stuff to get em done.

Big dreams

You can get melting pots like the one here:

I have heard good things about them.

A friend and me have started doing this

For us the best way has been a hot plate with a cheap tin pot
(you can bend the tin pot to pour it)
As far as a mold you can buy them or make your own open mold out of plaster (do a search on the web)

You need the plastic to be 340
and a Non-Contact Laser Thermometer is the best way to check the temp
You don't what to go any higher. And you can burn the plastic

So far the GY melts great and the color comes out very close to what it was.
We've added allot salt and haven't seen the bait (plastic) get hard so far
The power bait melts well as well but it does stink (don't do this in the house)
I think the only one you can't remelt would be Gulp

Melt all the same colors and the color will come out close
If you what to play with colors. You can buy them and the flake here
http://www.del-mart.com/shop/home.php?cat=250
(they also sell molds)

good luck

Thanks for the advice guys. Know let's see if I can do this without burning the house down.

It's a terrible addiction! It starts with remelts...and before you know it you have over a thousand invested in molds, supplies, pesto pots and crazy ideas:) love it!
