Does anyone have an idea of the cost for replacing lenses.  This is not a warranty claim.  I had a slight mishap involving my daughters feet.  Frames are fine, just looking to replace the lenses.

I don't have 580gs and to be honest I am not sure of the model number but it cost me 60 bucks at SVS to have new transition prescription lenses put in my Costas...

I like the transitions because they are polarized and lighten and darken depending on the ambient light....

For the mirrored 580s, I'm seeing replacement prices from $80 to $119.  That's a big spread.  I'm hoping someone here has some first hand experience.  They charge $12 to look at them (you pay shipping) and after they look at them, they tell you what it will cost to replace them.  It would be nice if there were a price sheet to look at prior to sending them out.

I'm not aware of a price sheet for repairs. I believe they always replace both lens no matter what. I would imagine the lens are the biggest cost factor. Last time I looked, I thought the new cost for most of  the Costas was $150 to $190 (non-prescription)? With the lens being the costly part, your price range seems reasonable. You can always say no if they quote a high repair price but then you need new glasses that will cost $70 to $90 more?

My first hand experience is from so many years ago, I'm sure it does not apply anymore. I had a frame repair also and I remember thinking it was a pretty good deal at the time compared to how much the new prescription glasses cost, which also was a decent price at the time.

Prices have gone up a ways since the last time I checked for prescription! Whew! And I need trifocals! cameraguy says I should get sunglasses I can wear over my regular glasses? Tried that in the past and it drove me crazy.

If you find out the best way to get your repair at the best price, please share it with us.

I'm probably going to bite the bullet and get them repaired by Costa.  I've been shopping for new pairs and the cheapest I'm seeing for glasses with 580G lenses are $150 and up on eBay.  I guess it's going to be about $100 minimum with shipping, the lenses and the $12 processing fee.

Cheaper than new anyway. Back when I had vision coverage, I got a pair of Titanium glasses that I was real 'proud' of for some reason. I thought they were indestructible! Until my Godson yanked them off my face and threw them to the driveway. Frame was fine. Lens - scratched up but good! Kids and pets always seem to find a way. Our job is to figure out how to prepare for their unexpected so we can hold on to more fishing money!

I am looking to get a pair of costas @ my local sporting goods dealer, and I was asking about warrantys and replacements. The manager of the fishing department told me his wife broke her lens and it cost em $80. And it wasn't covered by the warranty.

SlopMafia16

Sent mine in 6 months ago and cost me $90 for costa to put in the lenses, and then all the shipping

Flippin222

I have sent mine in Costa each of the past two years to have shattered 580 lens replaced. Each time it has been $100 to have them repaired (1 time they actually sent me new glasses). After the initial cost and the repairs the past two years..... I do believe they are getting to be pretty expensive glasses!!!
