Just got back from a couple days of fishing GTB and Lake Charlevoix.

Was excited to fish GTB as I had not fished it and had heard stories of tank smallies.  Launched out of Elk Rapids and started fishing north.  Lake was dead flat with crystal clear water.  Water temp was much warmer than expected with surface temp at sunrise at 58 degrees.  Second cast of the day with a trap hooked a nice fish and i thought the game was on.  Endedup landing a 7 lb laker.  We fished north a bit and then headed over to mission point.  Saw several fish, ended up catching 2 more lakers on tubes as well as a 6 lb whitefish, tube was all the way in its mouth. Got ancy to get on some smallies so we headed to the south end near town.  Ended the day with 6 smallies between 1 - 4lbs, another whitefish, and 1 more laker.  Overall a tough fish and a bit of a frustrating day, clear water, flat calm conditions and spooky fish.  Any input or advice would be appreciated.  Headed up again this weekend into earlier next week.

Spent the next day fishing LC and had a blast.  Fish were more aggresive with conditions more to our liking with a light chop after the first hour or so.  Ended the day with 30 smallies, 2 rockies, 1 nice walleye, and a 10lb sheephead that must have followed me up from LSC (my curse species).  All nice smallies with the largest at 5lb6oz.  Saw 2 absolutes monsters cruising the drop off.  Had a frenzy fest for about an hour when a front blew in some stronger wind and clouds, was fun.  Any techniques or experience with this lake would also be appreciated.  All of our fish came on G3 tubes working 4 - 25 feet of water.  Will likely fish this lake again as well this coming weekend/next week.
