With the big cool down, is there any smallmouth action on the south shore. Usually fish around Kelly's or over around Cranberry creek.

Welcome to the board tmetz11.  I assume you're talking about Ohio waters.  I am not too familiar with that part of Lake Erie.  I do want to get there eventually.  I am familiar with the mouth of the Detroit River, Canada's shoreline, and Michigan waters all the way south to the state line.  I don't recall seeing too many posts about Ohio waters of Lake Erie.  There have been some.  There are a couple guys down there that do report every now and then but I haven't seen too much lately from them.  You can always check out reports in this topic that may pertain to that neck of the woods and perhaps put something together yourself.

I noticed no one answered you so I wanted to kick in and say "hey" as well as give you some advice.  You should post more than just one time.  It will allow us to get to know you.  A lot of people won't answer a post like this until they see your name in other posts and I always like to say don't start a post until you have posted in other topics about 25 to 50 times total.  Just my 2 cents.

Again I would like to welcome you to the board.  We're glad you're here.    :D

Always tough to get a decent report around the areas you mentioned tmetz, especially during tourney season. That being said, we did fairly well around the Bass Islands area a few weeks back with some fish back in their shallower locations and seem to be setting up for the fall feed.Seems that the trend continues of everything being ahead of schedule plus tis the season for the big girls to be looking shallow.Dont hesitate to throw reaction baits shallower than you think this time of year.Be sure to check out any of the shallower reefs all around the islands as well.
Best of luck and keep us posted on how ya do.

Thanks for the info guys. Used to fish the detroit river and the south canadian shore. Always had great fishing. Don't know why I've been staying in buckeye waters the last several years. Guess you just get stuck in a rut. We used to hammer em around Kellys island and ruggles reef over around huron to vermillion. 100 plus fish days were the norm instead of the exception, but these days just can't seem to get more than a couple of bites per trip. Of course it could be that I'm still old school and chunk tubes all day long instead of trying something like drop shotting or throwing reaction baits. Guess it's time for an old dog to learn new tricks. ::)
