Baitcast reel anti reverse troubleshooting

Now that things have slowed down, I have decided to try fixing a few of my reels that have been out of commission.  I have two Quantum Bursts I am trying to fix.  My problem is pretty simple and started out (and is much worse) in the cold.  When I rip out of the weeds, set the hook, rip a jerkbait, sometimes the handle (and consequently the spool) will spin backwards, causing a huge backlash.  From everything I have read on the internet this would be due to my anti reverse bearing... however I have not been able to determine WHY this happens.  Is it something to do with the grease thickening up in the cold weather?  This has been an issue for me on reels other than these but I always considered them "broken" and just bought new ones.  I would like to fix these 2 if it's a cheap fix but I don't see the Burst listed on the Quantum site so I couldn't find a schematic.  Is there any cleaning/oiling procedure I can try?  Is it possible that this is a problem with something other than the anti reverse bearing?  I love these reels and I'd really like to get them working and I can't imagine I'm the only one who has dealt with this problem.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks,
Ethan

The bearing wears. Replace it and your problem will go away. I've had to do this a dozen times over the years on various reels.

I'm not certain how the Quantum Burst disassembles but I have replaced bearings on the Tour Edition and Energy series and they break down similar to the Smoke demonstrated in this video (It's pretty long, but helpful):

Thank you for the link.  I ordered some new bearings by calling the number on the Quantum website and they were very helpful.  I'm happy to have spent 14 bucks for 2 bearings and some hot sauce and hopefully this will salvage two more reels I can have for next year.

the anti reverse bearing on most reels is on the large gear post where the handle attaches (usually covered up by the drag star and reel casing).  The biggest thing with these is they get oiled or greased - sometimes by the factory and sometimes by guys just excessively applying oil/grease to anything that moves.  Either way - any kind of grease in the reverse bearing will cause it to intermittently fail - the bearings turn one way but have a latch that keep them from going backwards - too much oil/grease/grime and these latches don't catch. There could be mechanical failure that requires replacing the bearing as well.

Try thoroughly cleaning the bearing with acetone or brake cleaner to remove any oil/grease - hit it with a tooth brush to make sure it really clean. Apply very sparing amount of oil.

if you ordered spool bearings, these likely having nothing to do with the anti-reverse issues - not a bad idea to replace them and for 14 bucks, it will help. make sure not to over-lubricate them also. 1 tiny drop of hot sauce per bearing is all you need.
