24v or 36v TM

Big dreams

I have a Triton TR20 single console and currently have a 24v 70lb thrust TM installed.  I did purchase a 36v 109lb thrust TM from someone on this site a few months back.  I have not installed it yet though.  The main concern I am having is adding another battery (~50 lbs).  I currently have two batteries on port side and one on the starboard side.  I can only place another battery offset in the middle.  If I do choose to add another battery, which offset side should I place it as it will have to share the center with the onboard battery charger?

Just not sure if adding more weight to the back is worth the added power.  Or should I keep the 24v system and get a new 80lb thrust TM?  Looking for opinions to sway my decision.  I plan on doing the install of the 36v or a new 24v this winter.

If you spend any time fishing in heavy current (i.e. - the St. Clair or Detroit Rivers) the extra thrust of the 36v system is worth the extra weight, plus you get an extra third again in run time of a 24v system at a comparable speed setting. Good luck!

That little bit extra isn't going to hurt you for weight. My boat is a 20 footer, and I wouldn't dream of less trolling motor than a 36v/101#.  Just do it. You won't be sorry.

I am probably in the Minority of guys that are happy running a 24V....I am very conscious of wind direction and do my best to use it to my advantage...On big wind days I prefer to stay off the trolling motor and use a wind sock and not alert the fish as much....

I like to run my boat as light as possible. To me it is way easier to deal with on rough days...50lbs probably wouldn't make that much difference with a 250 pro XS but every little bit helps...
