Fished Elk a few times over the last week. Fishing was decent at times, but lots of smaller fish. Tuesday, the 5th - was my best day catching fish along breaks with weeds on 2k Jigs power lock (1/4oz) with a mango magic darter and a drop shot. A few better fish came on a c-flash as well but the crankbait bite was not really going yet. Moved out to a deeper flat and caught a nice 22"+ smallie dragging a tube in 20-25 FOW.

Next trip was thursday evening. Very windy from the north and rough. Concentrated on a deeper flat near a point.  Caught several fish by marking them on the graph and dropping a drop shot on their nose.  Lost a 4-5lber at the boat near dark on the crank bait and a few misses as fish moved up on the point to feed at dark. Actually had one come up and hit the crankbait as it was swirling on the surface from being fowled up.

Sunday was my last trip, i was there from 1p to 6:30p.  I went with intents of throwing a crankbait most of the day, but the clouds broke and i gave that up pretty quick. I spent most of the day on the trolling motor zig-zagging 20-30 FOW on flats near steeper drops looking for marks on the graph. When i would see a distinct large mark - i would stop and position over it and bonk it with a drop shot.  Fun way to catch them although requires a lot of patience.  Fish were being finicky with the high sun, lots of looks and a few takes.

i actually bumped into a guy that fished that at the gas station. he was rolling in a snazzy red/white ranger. said elk had been slow that tournament and they won it on skeg.  i went there first but not much going. i also caught a ton of runts.
