Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

From Sunday April 1st meeting at BPS:

The board has changed the requirement for how many members may
attend the 2007 State Championship.

All clubs may now send ANY QUALIFIED member to the 2007

State Championship. The member must be on the State and National

roster by June 1 st and have there B.A.S.S. membership up to date.

Now a club may choose to send as many members that are on their roster.

This years event will be on Lake St. Clair in August.

Our board wishes the best of luck to all our members in the new 2007 season.

what do you have to do to fish this series.  i know you have to be a BASS member but do you have to be in a club.  are there paper clubs like TBF,  ..  is it a Team event or draw??
thanks

OUTLAW

Sounds like anyone that wants to go can go. Its just anouther tournament.

blakstr1

Well by June 1st you have to be up to date with your BASS membership, be on the state and national rosters, which means you need to belong to a Michigan Bass Federation Nation club.  Paper clubs have been allowed, no organized club events required.  So you need to pay state and national dues and the state fish-off entry fees per person.  In previous years each club was required to bring even boater/non-boater numbers to the tournament.  This is a draw tournament and typically no members from the same club will fish together and you will have different pairings and blast off orders each day.

Now this info is based on previous years but with the newly changed rules some more items may have changed as well, if anyone knows more specifics please fill us in, otherwise I will post more as it becomes available.

our own smbassman did some leg work on the www.michiganbass.net website forum and asked some very good questions about the new rule change:

Question 1) Do the clubs have to send an even number of members?

Question 2) Do they have to send equal number of boaters and non boaters?

Answer 1) yes we would ask that you please send an ever number of contestants.

Answer 2) Yes, this is still in the rules that a club must send 50% boaters and 50% non-boaters. You must also specify an alternate boater.

Just keep this in mind as you create rosters for the Michigan Bass Federation Nation state championship on Lake St. Clair this August.

I see according to their calendar it is 23 August -25 August..What is the format?? Do they eliminate down to a set number of anglers for the last day??
The detroit river BFL is on 25 August.  Just trying to see if I could swing both if I don't make the cut in the BASS event..So many tournaments..So little time.

The pre-tournament banquet will be Thursday evening 8/23, then tournament days will be Friday and Saturday 8/24 & 8/25 respectively.  8/26 will be used if needed as a make-up day for bad weather.  In response to your question, no, everyone fishes 2 days, and since there have been problems in the past with guys not showing on day 2 if they felt they were out of contention from a poor day 1, a rule was instated that if you skip day 2, that would make you ineligible for the following year state championship. (of course, barring any emergencies..i think they take it at per incident descretion)

Yeah I could see that happening.  That would really be shafting the draw.  Good rule.
